Product Description
This adaptor is used on the end of a RJ11 cable to allow it to plug into
a BT telephone socket. This is useful for dial-up modems or other RJ11
devices, and prevents the need to purchase a replacement cable.
Crossover Adapter.
This adaptor is very easy to use. You just plug the adaptor onto the
ends of each cable/socket, and our computer is ready to access the
internet via dial-up connection.

I wouldn't normally have ordered an item with this level of negative reviews, but wanted one quick and cheap. But, sure enough, when I connected it up to my telephone - no dial tone - so, 'more haste, less speed' as they say!
Being "Made in China",I wonder if the pin connections are to some non-UK standard, perhaps US, but don't know. But it would seem that the reviewers who have found that it DID work weren't connecting UK phones.
At 98p I'd normally just throw it away, but this seemed a special issue so I'm returning it mainly to see what the seller is like.

Amazon Verified Purchase
Awesome! I can now use my US phone in the UK - I'm so happy! The item fitted my American phone plug and it went straight into the British jack. My telephone works wonderfully well and there are no sound distortions of any nature. I highly recommend this adaptor to anyone trying to use an American-made phone in England.

This is definitely NOT a RJ11 to BT converter. Just because you will be able to plug your phone in the mains, it doesn't mean that it's going to work as well. And the simple thing is that the wiring inside of it is completely wrong... I would have return it, if brought by a local store, but I didn't thought it worth the trouble trough mail. So I opened it and found out what I was suspecting; 1,2,3,4,5,6 in RJ were 1,2,3,4,5,6 in BT where they should have been 1,3,2,5,4,6.

Telephone modem converter

Not working for me.
