Product Description

"Like no detective that has gone before him."
A murderer is on the loose in the middle of the London riots... The police have only days before the riots end and their suspects disappear.

Myles Morgan is a failed actor who's turned out to be a successful, if unconventional, undercover cop in the Met's specialist SCD10 department.

Myles's acting career was a disaster. He'd always dreamt of becoming the next Marlon Brando. And it was a dream he couldn't let go, until he finally gave in and got a 'proper' job as a police officer. Temperamentally unsuited to the job, he almost quit. But then he was spotted by SCD10 and became an undercover cop, assigned to the most difficult, dangerous cases.

Yet Myles is still an actor at heart. Every operation is a leading role. He immerses himself in it. Sometimes, however, he forgets he's a law enforcement officer. He gets sucked into situations other officers would shy away from. His total absorption in his work will one day lead to his downfall. But, until then, he'll enjoy this freewheeling ride.

Myles Morgan is about to embark on one of his most hazardous cases. When riots flare up in London, an undercover cop is found murdered in a burning car.

The police's only lead is the officer's last report to his handler. He was close to discovering the identity of one of the organisers of the riots.

Because of the pressure he's under to get results, the chief superintendent goes against SCD10 guidelines and orders another undercover officer into the fray. That officer is Myles Morgan.

Myles must throw himself into the London riots, mix with the unpredictable participants from London's ganglands, stretch the rule of law and risk blowing his own cover with unknowable consequences. All this while dating an actress who's living the dream he left behind; and seeing a shrink who thinks he's a compulsive liar.

'Riot Murder' is a 22,000 word (100 pages) novella inspired by true events. It's the first in a series of Myles Morgan Undercover mysteries.

KILLER WHISPERS (a Myles Morgan Undercover mystery)

Myles goes undercover to try and catch a serial killer who's targeting witches.

The authorities want the murderer caught quickly. It's the 21st century, for crying out loud, and this crazy killer is dragging an idyllic tourist area back into the Middle Ages.

But police officers and witches are not natural allies. It's a difficult working relationship with suspicion on both sides. Myles must learn witchcraft, despite the deep, personal issues he has with anybody involved in the supernatural.

The investigation takes us into the mind of a serial killer, and of an undercover cop, to discover what they have in common.

'KILLER WHISPERS' is a turbulent story of revenge, family ties and ritualistic murder.

5.0 out of 5 stars More please Mr Capell 19 Dec 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I really really really enjoyed this and my only criticism is that it finished too soon. As a taster it worked really well for me. I still want to know why Myles gave up acting and chose the police force - it's not an obvious career move. He is certainly different to any detective that has gone before him, there does not appear to be any morose self-reflection or reliance on cigarettes or alcohol to enable him to cope with the job. He is light-hearted, irreverent and slightly annoying.

The backdrop of the London riots is very topical and as far as I know one that has yet to be explored in novel form and I would have liked the book to have gone on longer to explain who exactly is the Mr Big behind them. I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist and still have my own ideas as to who was behind the riots and it would have been interesting to read more about it.

I was so gripped I read this in an afternoon and I eagerly await the next Myles Morgan book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Story 13 Mar 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Having read Run Run Run I turned to this story by the same author with pleasurable anticipation.I was not rewarded. The story terminated so abruptly that had I bought it as an actual book I would have been examining the binding to see if a few pages had fallen out.
What happened with Amy? What happened with Zat,The Wrestler, Caesar? Did the gang get rounded up? Is there to be a sequel covering these points and if so why wasn't it mentioned at the end of the book?
I dislike having to complain but I am left one very dissatisfied reader. I would not recommend the purchase of this story to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars New Author to me 11 Mar 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I found it took a few pages to get "under his skin" as I've not read any of his other books. However, I found it totally "unputdownable" and thoroughly enjoyed it. Twists and turns everywhere and such a surprise ending. Thought I had it all sussed out.... WRONG!!! Will certainly read more of his books.
