This book is another fantastic mind-blowing masterpiece from the Chili Peppers! The sound of the RHCP has matured, but the music still owns its unique RHCP’s edge, which can be discovered through this wonderful book.
This book is very precise; easy to follow; has arrangements for piano, guitar and voice (the lyrics have also been printed out in the book); and has an explanation of the guitar tabulature techniques at the back of the book. John Frusciante is a very skilled guitarist, and therefore there are some tricky chords and techniques involved in this book, and beginners might find it difficult to play various songs, although some are quite easy, and others can be very hard.
I would recommend this book to any intermediate guitarist, who is a fan of the RCHP. The book includes the massive hits: ‘By the Way’, ‘The Zephyr Song’ and ‘Can’t Stop’. The sound of the Peppers on this album, ranges from the heavy, angst-ridden sound of ‘By the Way’, to the more laid-back mellow tone of ‘Dosed’ and ‘Cabron’. In songs such as ‘The Zephyr Song', ‘Can’t Stop’, and especially 'Don't Forget Me', there are some very fast harmonies that are played on the guitar, which are sure to get your fingers moving and stun your friends. The majority of the songs include hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides and string bending, which adds to the tone of the song.
However, even if you are not a brilliant guitarist, who is on Grade 5 + standard, but you absolutely love this new album by the Peppers, and you can play guitar quite well or are having lessons, buy this book! If a lot of effort and practice is put in, you will be able to play the songs in the end, and trust me; it will totally be worthwhile.
Go buy it - you won’t be disappointed!!!
