I bought this book to read with my nine year old daughter. It provides a good starting point for any young girl who is aware that her body will change during puberty but is not sure how. It has provided my daughter with a step by step description of how her body will be affected by growing up and has made it possible for us to easily and comfortably discuse a difficult subject. I found the book direct and writen in a way that a child of 9 or 10 could read and understand without feeling patronised or suffering from information overload! I would recommend this book to any parent who has a young daughter and wants them to learn about their body without concentrating on the sex aspect of growing up like a lot of other books do. The question and answere page at the end of each chapter is a bonus.

We bought this book for our 8 year old daughter whose body has just started to change. Some of the chapters are excellent and totally suitable for a young girl. However, even though the book doesn't talk about sexual intercourse, it does explain masturbation and uses terms like "sexy feelings" and "sex organs". We didn't feel that this was suitable for a young girl and so have had to put the book away until she is older. Such a shame as most of the book is great.

I bought this book and others for my 8 year old daughter who was asking a lot of questions and also hearing a lot of stories at school. This book is the one that my daughter felt most comfortable with and the one that she refers to if one of her school friends tell her something that she is unsure of. It is good in that it also explains that girls need to eat healthily and do a healthy amount of exercise. It also explains that not everyone develops the same way or at the same time. As a parent I did not feel that there was anything inappropriate for her age,would recommend this for any parent to give to their daughter and have in fact lent it to other parents who went on to buy their own copy.
