4.0 out of 5 stars A text on RDS, 24 May 2000
By "pvr_raja" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: RDS: Radio Data System (Mobile Communications Library) (Hardcover)
The RDS is being heavily used in Europe. The books is mostly an engineering text book. It is also readable by ordinary folks who do not have advanced degrees in Engineering. It also serves as a reference. That is the unique feature of this book. I recommend this book to any one who is involved in RDS.

It covers RDS, RDBS, Traffic Information Services, Intelligent Transport Systems and RDS-TMC, Basic and Enhanced Radio Paging, ODA, Differential GPS, etc.

A must have reference for RDS engineers. Here is a one fine book which is a source for multitude of information folks.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Definitive Reference on RDS, 11 Feb 2011
By D Anderton - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: RDS: Radio Data System (Mobile Communications Library) (Hardcover)
This book is definitely the definitive reference on all things RDS. The book details the developmental history of RDS (in glorious detail) and provides some helpful information from the design phase (e.g., the pulse shape was chosen to avoid interference with the legacy ARI system). The book is so thorough that by the end you will believe RDS is capable of supporting any feature (neglecting the very low data rates (1187.5 b/s--which is slow even for a dial-up modem). One note: the book is heavily oriented towards RDS features and message format. Details of the physical layer are relgated to the appendices. Fortunately the appendices are quite extensive.
