I bought this cage from a local store for my two new babies.
It's not so bad. It does have a wire floor. I took that out, and had to secure the trays so they can't push them out and escape (gaffa tape!) but aside from that it's not so bad. It's not huge (for two male rats) but will suit my juvies for a while. Because the floor is split into two trays, if you take the metal rack out it does reduce your floor space - you need hides that will fit in 1/2 the space (there's a lip). And you have to lift the big bits of garbage out before the trays will slide - but overall it's a lot better than when I've used tanks and you've had to shovel the lot out!
The hammock looks good but I've replaced it with my own. The hay feeder - GENIUS. I let my boys settle in too long so they're not so friendly now, and this gives them something to keep them busy all night. The odd... wooden... thing... well, god knows, but they like to climb on it :D
I will be looking for another cage, but for the price I don't think it's a bad starter for babies if you don't mind removing the floor pieces and securing the trays. It's a bit difficult to get your hand in there with the ladder but for cleaning you can just lift the whole lid off if you need to.
Not great, but works with mods.
