Good product works as described.

4 star as - issue I found was if your bikes Yoke stem is large (as with VFR800) the plug you cut and adjust to fit can have trouble gripping tight enough.

Solution install ram mount raised up and not flush as in photo.... solid fit -- had bike to 120mph since then with Zumo660 unit attached --- solid as a rock -- even over some rediculous speed humps.

Position it fits in makes using satnav really safe and very easy to look at. Also keeps handlebar balance right and doens't cause weight distribution to be upset -- which could happen if you don't fit satnav dead centre on a handlbar.

Thought I'd review this as I had problems with the fixing of this mount. I found the system of securing this mount to be below that I would have expected of Ram. The principle looks good however, I found that now matter how tight I got the fixing screw the mount would rotate. I tried quite a few things to get it to fix securely (I am a bike tech) & in the end had to resort to assembling the mount with polyurethane adhesive! Allowed that to set over night and it worked. Ram need to have a look at this issue!

Plastic coated mount ball and bracket very good but fork stem clamping system very poor, it does not work, come on Ram this is rubbish sort it out and supply a correct size bush for each diameter instead of trying to cut corners with a plastic bush that has to be cut to suit, it doesn't work. i own an engineering workshop so was able to make a split aluminium bush as supplied by some other manufacturers of this type of clamp and it now clamps as expected. If you ignore my review and buy the product and then wish you hadn't contact me tel 01454 294534 and i can make you a clamp bush that works at a small cost.

This mount is a great improvement on my previous mount which i had attached on the front tank mount bolts. This one mounts in the centre of the yoke in the tube that goes through the steering head bearings. It is a bit of a challenge to mount it to the VFR 800 as the rubber cone that mounts inside the tube is either to big or not big enough depending which end you use. I had heard of people putting a sleeve in the tube to use the smaller end of the cone, but I decided to whittle down the larger end which fits exactly right and provides a stable mounting. My Tom-tom rider sits centrally above the yoke so does not affect balance.

As other reviews I have seen say, the overly complex clamp just doesn't tighten to the point where it does not easily rotate. In the end I put a rubber washer (the type you find in an washing machine water hose fitting) under the top part between the top of the steerer tube and the mount and this seems to have made it sufficiently tight. RAM really should look at an simple wedge type design like that used in the old style 1 inch bike handlebar stems. This would lock tightly and allow the to cover a wide range of internal diameters.

It really is just OK. I mean for something so simple what do you expect? But what I would say is that I fitted it to a L4 GSXR-600 and I was quite generous with the amount of rubber I left knowing I would hammer it in but the real problem comes from the fastening as I couldn't get it to lock into place so that the mount would stop spinning as soon as you attached something to it.

It meant I over-tightened the bold which tore through the plastic grip you put the nut in so now I've broken it and I got to say - it has a lifetime warranty and the email I got from RAM UK was far from polite.

When I bought this it was £26.00 and I know you can now get it a bit cheaper but take into consideration you will also have to buy an arm of some kind and a device mount. I think RAM have been very clever to market their modular system and maximise their sales at the cost of good customer experience.

DO NOT BUY THIS !!!

I wanted something to use in my cbr600 20mm headstock stem. Ram are normally a great product. The specifications are all wrong. The widest part of the taper section is only 18mm, the widest top part is 28mm. I ended up overtightening the cut tapered section as it wouldnt tighten sufficiently. The plastic serrated washers sheared through. I finally resorted to cutting the 28mm section down. It stays in the hole ok but the ram ball and teardrop section still rotate in the hole. Consequently my zumo 660 isnt rock solid-

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY !!!

SW motech do something similar which i will be trying. I obviously cant return the parts that are now in an unsaleable
