    More About the Author

I am the author of the only R.F. Delderfield biography, BUTTERFLY MOMENTS, in the world. He was one of the most prolific and popular English novelists of the 1960,70s and 80s. Remember A HORSEMAN RIDING BY,TO SERVE THEM ALL MY DAYS AND DIANA?
After reading all his novels I wanted to know more about his life and work but couldn't find anything. After several years of research and accumulating an entire archive, I wrote the biography myself. It was shortlisted for the
annual prize of the Biographers' Club, headed by Andrew Lownie.
In 2012, the towns of Exmouth, Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton honoured
their famous resident with performances of his early plays, talks and celebrations.

Next I embarked on THE GREEN SARI, a novel, which is the story of a young Western woman following the love of her life to Bangladesh and of her struggles to adjust to life far from everything she has ever known. it is also a portrait of one of the poorest countries in the world and a journey through its landscapes, history, culture and traditions.

In May 2013 I published MIXED BLESSINGS AND OTHER LOVE STORIES, a compilation of short stories about love across continents, cultures, religions and traditions. Patricia, Noor, Tracey, Casey and James fight for their happiness whilst others reflect on the joys and heartbreaks of their unconventional relationships.

My fiction is heart-warming and for all those who love to laugh and cry with their fellow human beings.

I am now working on the sequel to THE GREEN SARI and aim to have it
    published in October 2014.

All my books are published by CASHMERE PUBLISHING.

I live in the glorious West Country of England with my husband and cats whilst my children and grand-children live the lives of the cosmopolitans I hoped they would be.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable but could be better 30 April 2009
Marion Lindsey-Noble's biography of the writer R.F. Delderfield is enjoyable and interesting, but could have been better.

While not exactly forgotten, Delderfield doesn't have the grip on the reading public he once enjoyed, but his novels in particular still stand up well. Marion Lindsey-Noble tackles her subject with great affection and offers an interesting portrait, but her book falls down on a couple of counts. There is very little referencing - quotes, ancedotes and memories are rarely attributed, which is frustrating, and the absence of an index is a disappointment. There are also some glaring errors, particularly with the description of some of Delderfield's non-fiction works as novels. There are other mistakes which take the shine off the biography; however, it is an interesting look at a writer who deserves to be both remembered and read.

    2.0 out of 5 stars A Missed Opportunity. 7 Jun 2014

RFD Deserves a far better biography than this offering, especially this Kindle version, which appears to be a rough proof sent for editing. Repetition abounds as do factual and typo errors, it is not a good example of the Kindle library.
Lindsey-Noble's style of writing does not lend it self to subject matter of this nature and I felt on occasions she was trying to hard to mimic Delderfield's 'common touch'. Very disappointing.

A fascinating history marred only by the numerous miss-prints, I look forward to returning to RFD now that my fallen apart paperbacks have been replaced with "Kindle" versions
