Had a bit of wind to contend with at a wedding i shot with the VMP and this managed to prevent it picking up on the microphone. Be sure to get the fitting the right way around, it doesn't come with an instruction on how to fit it, so just be sure the elasticated bottom goes underneath, and then velcro at the top above the controls (it does not need to velcro over the back as it grips on pretty well). I made the mistake of securing the velcro around the back, and at one point didn't realise my Mic was turned off, because the Rode label was covering the LED. Don't make that mistake!

This is the real deal an original Rode branded, Furry windjammer, not a third party add on. It slips right on and fits neatly.

This Rode windshield is just ok, it does reduce wind noise/hiss but I would still recommend you seek out a better windshield.

The fit is what irritates me the most due to the fact that it's just to small for the VMP, you have to really stretch it to the point that you feel you could break your mic for it to go all the way on. Also once on the velcro does cover your ON (LED) switch, so just be aware in case you've turned it off to take a break during filming/shooting that you check to make sure you've switched it back on or other wise you won't see that it's of.

Other than that, it does shed slightly so just be aware that loose hairs don't get caught in any of your equipment/lenses.

To wrap it up...It's decent and does the job!

literally too small to go on the main body of the mic, I get the feeling it was made for something else / or a copy , as its so tight you get the feeling you will damage your mic trying to tighten the Velcro up.

avoid it until the muppets at rhode sort them out guess they made a batch of 200 and had to get rid of them on us mugs.

Got this dead cat for my video mic pro.

I already have a dead kitten on my stereo video mic pro and it works great.

The dead cat is a very tight fit over the foam windshield. You don’t get any guidance on use in the packaging. I don’t notice any difference between the foam windshield on its own and the dead cat in reduction of wind noise. In fact it might be worse with the dead cat on!

Also the Rode label covers the power LED so you can’t see if your mic is on or off. A fundamental design floor and makes me wonder if Rode ever tested this product in use.

Rode are a very frustrating manufacturer, they produce top notch microphones and then blot their copy book with tat like this.

Not recommended.

I am disappointed with this item. It is quite thin and not much bulk to it. I took it out to a breezy ridge in the Peak District. I thought it may hold off some wind but it was useless. May well have just wrapped a jumper around the mic instead. If someone can make a really top professional windjammer for the VMP mic I would love to buy it.

The Rode Dead Cat works a treat! It is well made and fits the Rode Video Mic Pro like a glove. The dead cat is an essential accessory if you want to record any kind of audio outside.

It does what it is supposed to do. I use it for when I am filming outside and it does clear up the audio. I would definitely recommend this product and the price is good too.
