I won't bother you of tales of derring do with this book and CD. All I can say is that I had the book for a while but hadn't read it or listened to the CD for quite a while until after I bought it. I can't say I was desperate to give up, just not at all happy with my habit, and definitely addicted. For me, I had periods that I thought would always be my sticking points - first thing in the morning, lunchtime, driving home from work, the pub. What McKenna does is make you understand that not smoking is actually doing something wonderful for yourself. Since then, I've not had the appetite for cigarettes.
Now, before I get onto the hypnosis, the book itself is a wonderful resource that details a number of techniques to help you on your way. I can imagine that different techniques work for different people, but for me, tapping, the image swish and the calming and disgust points really worked for me. All in all, I felt responsible for choosing to give up smoking, which was really helpful in comparison to relying on gum or patches.
So, the CD? Great! To start with, I fell right under. After a while, I got a little bored with it, but it turned out to be excellent motivation to carry on with it you are - if you fancy having a cig, there's nothing better than to listen to the CD and fall under McKenna's spell.
Anything that genuinely helps you to give up smoking is amazing: - I no longer smoke.
