About the Author
Sarah Fielke is a quilter, teacher, designer and author. She has co-authored two hugely successful quilt books - Material Obsession: Contemporary Quilt Designs, and Material Obsession Two: Shared Inspiration. In these books, which have been published in four languages, she inspires quilters to be more creative, find their own style and step outside their comfort zone. Sarah publishes patterns for magazines around the world, including Down Under Quilts, Quilters Companion, Quilting Arts, Quilters Newsletter and Quiltmania magazine. She appears regularly in quilting features in international home magazines and is the creative editor of a website for all things sewn.

This is a really lovely book. Often quilt books leave you feeling underwhelmed, like nothing original is being offered or that the ideas are just too thin, but this book gives you much more than you could hope for. The quilts really sparkle and make you smile. The photographs are beautiful, the quilts and text are so original and uplifting and everything about the book feels generous and inspiring.

A pretty book full of wonderful projects to quilt. The projects show how to master ten different quilting techniques. First you try out the small doll's quilts to get the hang of the technique before tackling the larger projects. The treatment is contemporary. This is an interesting book with wonderful photography, line diagrams, pattern sheets and easy to follow instructions. This review appeared on Karen Platt's book review website.

I love the photos and have frequently flicked through the book trying to decide which one to make first - lots of inspiration. I also like being told the fabric designer - I am very poor at making the jump from the bolt on the shelves of the shop to finished pattern.
I have now made sandwich short of a picnic and the instructions were perfectly clear and easy to follow.
I have given the book a four because I would have preferred it to have a spiral binding to lay it flat beside my sewing machine.
