More About the Author

Caroline Crabtree was born in London in 1955, and has been surrounded by textiles all her life; her parents were costume designers, and her desire to make things from fabric began before starting school. She trained at the Royal School of Needlework, and is at heart a hand embroiderer. Her real love is traditional costume - the cut, construction, embellishment and significance. Her first book was published in 1993, and she taught and lectured regularly for the next twelve years. She still teaches a few times a year.

Review

'Large, attractive and colourful, this book is a feast for the eyes and takes a broader perspective than many books on quilts'

Quilting, patchwork and applique: a world guide 7 Jan. 2008
By Joanna - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
Great overview of these needleworks, but I thought it would be more of a visual review of quilts from around the world, instead of detailed sections on each type of needlework. I had no way to know what was inside the book prior to purchase. Beautifully put together and very informative.

Inspirational quilting book 31 May 2011
By B. Waldron - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
This book is unlike quilting books I see in local bookstores (which are chain stores). It shows examples in full color of international quilts and quilted clothing. The photos are gorgeous and have inspired me with my own quilting designs.
Types of patchwork 5 July 2011
By Fabio - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
It is a good book that describes types of patchwork around the world and how different cultures develop this work.
I think this book would contain a chapter on projects of patchwork for the reader to do.
