This is a book for readers who are interested in less traditional patchwork and quilting. It's great to have a book that doesn't only give you the opportunity to see the effects of a wide range of different techniques, but also to find out something about the artists and their inspirations.
A large variety of techniques and styles have been used for the different quilts. Less common techniques are explained briefly using diagrams. The techniques are not complex, and you do not require any eccentric tools either.
It's not a book with instructions on making projects though; it presents the creative work of experienced artists. It will inspire anybody who likes or would like to work with fabric and is looking for new ways to express themselves. It is fascinating to read the artist's statements (although they are relatively short). Some details are enlarged and commented so you can learn how they work in the quilt. The photos are large and colourful so it is very enjoyable to even just look through the book. With all the possibilities presented, there is probably something to entice every reader to try out a new technique.
