To show us that subtlety isn't uniquely French and that beautiful sing-along melody wasn't invented by Schubert, God gave us Roger Quilter. This is some of the most exquisite song writing in the genre, not a wit inferior to the best that Schubert et al. have given us. This is also some of the best singing I've heard from Luxon, who has been a long-time champion of English song. David Willison, the pianist, is also excellent. Certainly a candidate for my desert island collection.
