I enjoyed this very much. As usual, Luxon's singing is beautiful, with a round, easy tone and exquisite phrasing and diction. Such an intelligent singer. Williston is excellent, also as usual. If you like Quilter, this is for you.

.
I loved this. His singing has more sweetness than Bryn Terfel's but lacks some of the attack and drama of Bryn's. Quilter's arrangements are always memorable.

The Germans can't have all the fun 14 Jan. 2005
By Edwin J. Firmage - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
To show us that subtlety isn't uniquely French and that beautiful sing-along melody wasn't invented by Schubert, God gave us Roger Quilter. This is some of the most exquisite song writing in the genre, not a wit inferior to the best that Schubert et al. have given us. This is also some of the best singing I've heard from Luxon, who has been a long-time champion of English song. David Willison, the pianist, is also excellent. Certainly a candidate for my desert island collection.
