This is a static pressure fan (as opposed with speed flow fan) which means it is better at pushing through a radiator, if you buy a Corsair Hydro series CPU liquid cool kit get this fan or be unhappy the end.
After reading and watching loads of reviews, I have decided to go for the "be quiet" silent wings 2, because they perform fantastic and are DEAD silent. Not even kidding you.Try putting your ear next to the thing, cannot hear anything. Not to mention that they look pretty good, as well.
Priced at £17, I didn't find them particularly expensive for what I intended to do, but some people might do. Let's not forget that you are paying for a premium item, hence the price.
At the moment, I am looking to buy a full tower case, meaning I will have more space for more fans and I have decided do fill it up only with "be quiet" products, since they performed so well.
So what is wrong with it? It does look great, and the build quality seems great too (as I have come to expect from BeQuiet). However it falls short on the two most important areas:
I have been able to test these fans against the Noiseblocker Eloop and Multiframe fans and the Scythe Gentle Typhoons. Not only does it make as much sound as those three fans. It also has a low frequency hum at full speed (both SilentWings 2 fans I got have this problem), it isn't really bad but it is there, which can only be eliminated by reducing the fan speed/voltage (which can be done with the included molex to 12v/9v/7v cable) increasing the following flaw:
When used as a case fan the air flow would be good enough for most purposes (as long as you are not an overclocker), however it still circulates the air significantly less than the other fans I mentioned earlier when at the same noise level. It gets even worse when used on a restrictive surface. This fan just doesn't cut it when moving air through obstacles.
So all in all this isn't necessarily a bad fan, and most people will find it's performance more than sufficient. It even beats most of the cheaper fans out there. It's just too expensive for what you get in comparison to some other brands.
Installed in 5 mins and switched on and thought I had got-it-all-wrong as first impression was that the fan wasn't working
- - COS ITS SO QUIET- -
Wow really impressed. Kicks out a ton of cool air and since installing the temps are really impressive. Works great with the case set-up and sooooo quiet.
If like me you spent lotsa-bucks on a new rig and find the supplied fans noisy - get this kit now - nuff said. The price is relative to performance - it really is worth every penny

Really reduced the overall noise in my system and the pins uses to fit were a little easier than screws.Published 1 month ago by PK
Silent. 0 Vibration and Looks Great. I normally write much longer reviews but for the money these are incredible... Better than NF-F12's in my opinion!Published 16 months ago by Marcus Nailor
Best fan I bought so far. It looks nice. It's very easy to mount and remove. Most importantly, it is quiet. Read morePublished 17 months ago by Sky
