I SAW THIS FILM WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT WHEN MY PARENTS TOOK ME TO THE 'PICTURES', I HAVE SEEN IT A COUPLE OF TIMES SINCE THEN, MY PARENTS HAVE LONG SINCE DIED, THIS IS A LOVELY MEMORY OF THEM, AND I ENJOYED IT AS MUCH AS I FIRST DID. IT IS A REAL CLASSIC FILM, AND AS THE OLD SAYING GOES, 'THEY DON'T MAKE 'EM LIKE THIS ANYMORE, AND WHILE SOME PEOPLE MIGHT SAY 'THANK GOD', I FOR ONE WISH THEY DID, THANKS TO AMAZON, THIS SORT OF FILM IS NOW AVAILABLE, AND BETTER STILL, AFFORDABLE. As an Irishman I should be complaining about portrayal and stereotype.That I can't do this film has an indescribable charm
I never tire watching .Wayne is as always Wayne just no horse for me Maclagen and Fitzgerald Squire and Mickilin steal the show
more so the Squire an honest if caricature portrayal a brilliant performance .By way don't forget the fight....

This has to be the best film John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara ever made.
Atmospheric, lovely to watch, leaves a feeling I call ' soul food', I could not live without it. Look more deeply and you will see issues dealt with as they should be,God i love this film.
