About the Author

Bonnie Biafore has always been a zealous planner, whether setting up software demos, cooking gourmet meals, or scheduling a vacation to test the waters of spontaneity. Ironically, fate, not planning, turned this obsession into a career as a project manager. When she isn't managing projects for clients, Bonnie writes about project management, small business accounting, personal finance, investing, and technology. She's also branching out into other "dry" topics with articles for the Wine Enthusiast. As an engineer, she's fascinated by how things work and how to make things work better. She has a knack for mincing dry subjects like accounting and project management into easy to understand morsels and then spices them to perfection with her warped sense of humor.

Bonnie is the award-wining author of more than a dozen books including Quicken 2009: The Missing Manual, QuickBooks 2009: The Missing Manual, Project 2007: The Missing Manual, the Better Investing Stock Selection Handbook (which won an APEX Award of Distinction), Online Investing Hacks, and On Time! On Track! On Target!. She also writes regularly about financial topics for Better Investing bankrate.com and interest.com. When unshackled from her computer, she hikes in the mountains, cycles, rehabilitates horses, cooks gourmet food, and, most importantly, tries saying no to additional work assignments.

Although written for US version of Quickbooks a lot of the information applies to the UK and other versions. Its just UK/Ireland payroll and VAT that is missing. However you do realise how much better the US version is in comparison. QB help is too bitesize for me and I found the book really good. QB did do a separate booklet for VAT on their website but this was removed after QB2010 was launched.

I bought this book in the hope that it would help me do our VAT in the UK... but it didn't. All the Qbooks manuals seem to be written for the US market and although this is a relatively easy read it's not brilliant.

That being said it seems to be better than most other manuals on the market.

Every time I want to check how to do something in Quickbooks I have been able to quickly find the answers in this book. Also the writing is very easy to understand making it very easy to recommend this book. It's a great stress reducer knowing I can turn to an experienced users knowledge whenever needed.

Great for Beginners 3 Sept. 2008
By N. Webb - Published on Amazon.com

A great book for someone just starting a business. I came to a business after they had about 6 months of Quickbook. I needed to learn Quickbooks after it had been used for a while. The main thing I learned was, USE A CPA to start the setup. If your business is bigger than 2 or 3 employees Quickbooks can become quicksand with no knowledgeable oversight. Book goes over the basics of starting up very thoroughly and can be a great help in setting up the books!
