Many of the cakes featured can be decorated in an hour and are for all types of occasions, from birthdays and anniversaries to valentines.
About the Author
Carol Deacon is an experienced cake decorator and demonstrator who began her career in 1992 working with Jane Asher. In 1993 she was the winner of an icing contest sponsored by a leading food magazine and was later appointed cake consultant to an international chain store. She is the author of the highly successful Carol Deacon's Party Cakes and No Time Party Cakes, also published by New Holland. Carol also writes regularly for various food magazines including Cake Craft and Decoration and demonstrates regularly on television. She lives in Flitwick, Bedfordshire.

There are some great cakes and ideas in this book. I make cakes for a living and feel this book is more aimed at begginers than experienced sugarcrafters (unlike Debbie Brown's books that I feel are more for experienced decorators and beginners can find daunting). If you want to make cakes for your kids birthdays then I would recommend this to have in your collection.

Really good book for beginners! It tells you what you need to make them and also gives recipes for cake mixes in the front so you use the best type of cake for the one you are making! Also shows general decorating skills and different icing recipes. There are 35 cakes altogether - something suitable for every occasion and the instructions are clear and easy to follow . Templates are also included in the back and it tells you how much to enlarge them by.

This is the 2nd book of Carol's that I bought, and it continues to spur me on. The directions are easy to follow, end results are amazing. It HELPS if you really ARE interested in making novelty cakes!
I have just purchased my 4th book, and I cant wait to try the new cakes...
Carol's books have helped me SO much, that I can now design my OWN, to order....
SOME people have commented that they find the instructions difficult... CAROL DEACON has turned my cakes from a complete mess, to what LOOK like PROFFESSIONALLY made!
I sometimes spend up to 8 hours decorating one of Carol's cakes, but I "personalize" them now...
At the end of the day, practice, like Carol did...
Enjoy.

Makes Cakes Easy!
