Book Description

4 Aug 2009

Classic humour strips from the creator of Tintin, Herge.

Laugh along with the hilarious adventures of two street urchins, Quick and Flupke, as they get into all kinds of scrapes. A must for fans and collectors of Tintin. Fasten Your Seat Belt Flupke goes skiing, the pair play a peculiar game of football and even kidnap Hergé himself in this collection of classic strips.

More tongue in cheek than The Adventures of Tintin, but still with the same distinctive artwork style that has helped his classic children’s characters sell over 230 million copies worldwide. Two of The Adventures of Tintin were adapted for the silver screen by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson in 2011.

About the Author

Hergé  (Georges Remi) was born in Brussels in 1907. Over the course of 54 years he completed 23 albums of The Adventures of Tintin series, which is now considered to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest, comics series of all time. With translations published in over 80 languages, more than 230 million copies sold worldwide and a Hollywood movie to its name, Tintin dominates the Comics and Graphic Novels chart even today. Sadly, Hergé died in 1983, leaving his 24th album, Tintin and Alph-Art, unfinished, but his hero continues to be one of the most iconic characters in both adult and children’s fiction.

4.0 out of 5 stars Biting Belgian Satire 29 May 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
As a Herge completist, I ordered this book expecting it to be childish. Surprise, surprise! It made me laugh out loud at the antics of the two lads, the punchline always managing to be 'off the cuff' and bitingly funny! Recommended to children and subversive adults alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and funky - perfect for 7-12 year olds 6 Feb 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a fun and sometimes whacky cartoon story of the 'Tintin' kind. My 9 year old loved it and I regret there aren't many more in translation.

3.0 out of 5 stars For Hergé completists only 13 May 2013
By Sebastian Palmer TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
As a lover of Tintin, and having also enjoyed numerous books about Hergé himself, I thought I might like some of the other 'bandes dessinées' he created. What this slim volume brought home to me was how much the excellence of the Tintin series was due to them being the combined efforts of Studio Hergé. This is, like the earliest Tintin adventures, rather 'thin' and unsophisticated. Most of the Tintin catalogue can be enjoyed by adults as much as children. Not so here. I was definitely disappointed.

We're admirers of the Herge's work, and already own majority of his books - entire Tintin edition.
This one was must have for the collection and it is great set of stories from early Herge. Buy one, you wouldn't be disappointed.
