Don't let the title fool you., 16 Feb 1999

This review is from: Quick and Easy Crochet: 36 Motifs for Tablecloths, Bedspreads, Doilies, Placemats and Other Projects (Dover Needlework) (Paperback)
While some items in this book are easy, they are by no means quick. Most items listed are tablecloths and bedspreads with an occasional doily or placemat here and there. The motifs listed are beautiful especially the rose motif and the star-in-the-snow motif. Most of the materials are mercerized cotton and the needles are on the small size from size 9 to 11. It's a good book if you want to decorate your dining room table.

Classic American bed and table coverings, but not 'quick'., 24 Jun 1999

Excellent resource for some of the classic, American patterns for table and bed. Again, not "quick", because the projects are large. Some are easy, but some are intermediate. None are truly complicated. Cloth on cover made by my grandmother & aunt in mid '40's...lovely. I see these patterns reproduced repeatedly in contemporary books.

I don't know about other thread crocheters, but I have always loved crocheting motifs. Maybe it's the sense of accomplishment in a short amount of time as you complete one, then you complete 37 more to finish a project.
I just worked one project in this book and it was a little frustrating because the instructions were more complicated than normal (for me). But I've had this problem from the very beginning and so you learn to work around the difficulty. Hey! It's part of the intrigue/excitement when you make things with your hands.
Great book, more eye-candy for thread crocheting.
