I'd previously invested in a 1000+ page manual and was getting no where fast until I saw this book, within 3 days, making time at the office, I was producing comprehensive queries and forms. It's walk-through, with diagrams and hints, was more than up to the mark, and the people in the office were impressed by my new found skills. A must have for beginners to intermideates!

$...! This is worth $100! Thumbs up! 2 April 2003
By P. Elward - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I've got over $500 invested in computer books and very very few of them are read top-to-bottom, start-to-finish. This is one of them. If you've ever beaten your head against the wall trying to decipher some of these 900 - 1500 page books, this book will restore your faith in a book's ability to transfer knowledge quickly and painlessly to your head.

This is a basic book, but without it, you could waste months trying to figure out all of Access' neat features. It took me three days to go through and do this and I can confidently take on basic database tasks with Access now. I wish I had bought this book years ago!

I agree with the other writers, that this is a good 'basic tutorial' and to do more advanced stuff, you'll need other materials, but at least you won't drown in useless info with this one! (and for $..., you can give it to a friend and help them along the database path.)

Great for Beginners 8 May 2002
By Jasmine T. Baer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Quick Course in Mircosoft Access is an excellent book for individuals seeking to learn one of Microsoft's least intuitive applications. The book takes the reader step-by-step in tutorial fashion through all the key skills necessary to building simple databases.

Other applications in the Office 2000 suite are very intuitive. It is easy to understand the basics of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, and create simple documents, spreadsheets, and presentation. If you needed help, the help file and index are more than adequate. Access is not like the other Office applications in this sense. New users need to be walked through the basics of constructing a relational database. Normally, I try to experiment with a new application, and then buy one of the huge "Bibles" to augment my knowledge. Again, not so with Access. In order to effectively utilize Access, I found it necessary to get a book that would take me from ground zero to limited proficiency in a short period of time.

If you are faced with the daunting task of using Access, this book will have you up and running in no time at all. Buy this book, run through the tutorials, and create your own database from scratch. Then, go out and buy one of the 1000 page "Bibles" so that you can teach yourself some of the more esoteric features and functions.

An Error Free Guide 18 July 2002
By Hubie - Published on Amazon.com

I used it for 12 different sections of a college course to introduce the students to Access. I found it to be accurate and found no flaws plus it was very reasonable in cost. I am anxiously waiting for the Access 2002 edition.
