Book Description

9 Dec 2010 ARGENEAU VAMPIRE

That hot guy tied to Lissianna Argeneau's bed? He's not dessert - he's the main course!

Lissianna has been spending her centuries pining for Mr. Right, not just a quick snack, and this sexy guy she finds in her bed looks like he might be a candidate. But there's another, more pressing issue: her tendency to faint at the sign of blood . . . an especially annoying quirk for a vampire. Her mother thinks she has the perfect solution, and serves up the therapist on a silver platter (or at least a wrought iron bed). Of course it doesn't hurt that this psychologist has a delicious looking neck.

What kind of cold-blooded vampire woman could resist a bite of that? Dr. Gregory Hewitt recovers from the shock of waking up in a stranger's bedroom pretty quickly - once he sees a gorgeous woman about to treat him to a wild night of passion. But is it possible for the good doctor find true love with a hemophobic vampire vixen, or will he be just a good meal?

That's a question Dr. Greg might be willing to sink his teeth into . . . if he can just get Lissianna to bite.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lucern's little sister finally gets her turn! 25 Aug 2005
By Deborah MacGillivray HALL OF FAME VINE VOICE
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Lynsay is back with another long-awaited Argeneau tale, and new sexy updated cover instead of the cartoon ones. New Publisher, the vamps are no longer with Dorchester. They're now put out by Avon (though Dorchester will continue to do her Historicals). Originally, this was the very first Argeneau tale in the series, not Single White Vampire (Lucern's tale). So it's great to finally get Lucern's little sister's story. As followers of the series know, the Argeneau vamps are the modern day, intelligent sort, who know feasting in the wild can get "blood" with all sorts of problems. In order to skip all this rather mundane ugliness, they've invested in blood banks that see them supplied with a full range of "flavors" and blood that is safe! Only, Lissianna really has trouble with this popping her fangs into a blood bag and having a quick munchie.

So Mama Argeneau sets out to give Lissianna the perfect present - one sexy male tied up and waiting. Well, Lissianna wants Mr. Right, not just Mr. Available. She's tired of her vamp immortal life, and would like someone to share it with. Lissianna has other problems, such as her fainting at the sight of blood, an annoying trait for a vampire. For a Birthday gift, Mama has gone out and fetched Dr. Gregory Hewitt, used mind control to get him to tuck himself up in the trunk of her car, and now has him tied up nekkid on Lissianna's bed. Wouldst that all mums were so obliging on birthdays!

Greg was planning a much-needed vacation. The last he recalls is leaving the office and planning on getting away. Instead, he wakes up in a stranger's bedroom. Well, he's male - this cannot be all bad. Okay, she's a vampire romance may be a bit difficult to work out, but to quote Joey Brown in Some Like it Home, "nobody's perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Fangtastic Read 11 April 2006
By floss86
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This book is excellent. It is the fourth in the Argeneau Vampire Series and personally I think it is great. This is about Lissiana and Greg who we here alot about in the other books so it is great to see how they got together, and it is amazing as you understand the family members more than you ever did in the other books. This book was actually meant to be the first in the series yet it does not confuse you in the slightest as you know the whole family so well.
Definately a book for anyone who wants to laugh, cry and has a weekend to spare as you will not be able to put this book down.

2.0 out of 5 stars It was ok.... 1 Sep 2008
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I think I've been a little spoiled recently by JR Ward, Kresley Cole, Lara Adrian and Jacquelyn Frank, because i was left feeling very unmoved by this book. After reading up online, I knew this wasn't the first book written in the series but that it was the first chronologically, so thought I would continue my foray into the world of the Argeneau vamps by starting with this book - possibly a mistake as previous reviewers have alluded to - published order might be more advisable. However having only read one other book in this series before and wanted to see what else the series had to offer...

As my title states, it was ok. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great. It read as if you were expected to know the back history of the Argeneau Vampires and didn't really feel as if it worked as well as it could have done as a stand alone book. While it may be number one in the reading order, I don't think it works as an introduction to Lynsay Sands' Vamp world.

Lissiana is a 200 year old vampire who is hemaphobic causing her to faint at the sight of blood. This being quite a handicap for a vampire prompts her mother to kidnap psychologist Dr Gregory Hewitt in the hopes that he can help rid her of her phobia. Later the couple are forced to escape her family home at the prospect of Greg having his memory wiped (or worse, having his brain scrambled in the process because he has been over exposed to their world).

The Good:-
- It was fast moving. It didn't bog the reader down with needless details.
- The vampires seem very ordinary in their daily lives which makes them easy to relate to as a reader. They are written in a very modern style.

The Bad:-
- Lissiana seems to be a very childlike and I found her hard to enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great filler or for those short trips 1 Jun 2010
By Rebecca
Format:Paperback
This book was a nice light diversion from the heavy suspense of the early book. The story line was fresh and I liked the explanation of where "vamps" came from - it was original and while probable to a degree, has absolutely no way of being verified...it was perfect!

The main characters were delightful and true to how I would imagine a crisis inspired turning would play out. The family was eclectic and the night life...original...I'll never look at a Bloody Mary the same!

It's a fun read and fast going. A great filler or for those short trips. Easy to be interrupted and yet still be able to get back into it with ease

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun read 8 Dec 2010
Format:Paperback
This book introduces the Argeneau family of vampires and centres around Lissianna, a 202 year old vampire with haemophobia. Her mother is worried for her health and so recruits Dr Gregory Hewitt (with a bit of mind control) to help cure her.

I thought this was a pretty good read. It was kind of different from others in this genre in that it wasn't dark and intense which I must say I normally like however, i didn't feel it made the book lacking in anything either. This book was a light and refreshing read, it was really fast moving and was funny. I thought the characters were great, so like a regular family, they were quite sweet actually. The romance between Lissianna and Gregory was fun too.

My only criticisms (though they didn't bother me too much) were that Gregory accepted his situation very quickly which I find hard to believe. Also the sub-plot of the murderer after them was so obvious you literally knew the second you met the guy despite the weak attempt to make you think it was someone else. But, like I said it didn't bother me much and I wouldn't let that put you off.

If you like the dark and intense books of J.R. Ward (which are completely awesome!) and others like that then this book will be a hit or a miss. Personally I quite enjoyed the change of pace (though Ward wins without a doubt) and I will read on because I quite like a light and fluffy book (with fangs) now and again.
