Book Description

1 Mar 2010 Warrior Sheep
This is a super-funny, super-crazy crime caper with five rare-breed sheep! A silver object falls mysteriously from the sky and lands on Sal, a matronly Southdown ewe who lives happily with her sheep friends on Eppingham Farm. The sheep are convinced that an ancient ovine prophecy is being fulfilled. They must go North (so to Scotland, perhaps?), on a mission to aid Lord Aries, Sheep of all Sheepdom, Ram of Rams, in his battle against the powers of darkness in the shape of Lambad the Bad. Thus the Eppingham Posse of Rare Breed Warriors is born. In fact, the silver object is a mobile phone, dropped from a hot air balloon by Luke and Neil, who have been stealing bank money over the internet. They need that phone back to hide the evidence. And a couple of woolbags aren't going to stand in their way! The chase is on...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Quest of the Warrior Sheep 27 Aug 2010
By Maggs
Format:Paperback
I thought it was brilliant book. Even though it is aimed at the younger market I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was so imaginative and made me want to carry on reading it. It would be good if there were other books in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Courtesy of Mother Daughter Book Club. com 2 Mar 2011
By Cynthia Hudson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Sal knows all the prophecies from her favorite poem, "Songs of the Fleece," but she doesn't know much about modern technology. That's how she misinterprets a cell phone falling on her head from a hot-air balloon as a struggle between the great Lord Aries and his nemesis, Lambad the Bad.

Under Sal's direction, the sheep leave their farm near London on a quest to return the Baaton (cell phone) to the great ram with the golden horns where he lives in the north. That's when the fun really begins.

The Quest of the Warrior Sheep by Christine and Christopher Russell will have you laughing out loud as you follow the adventures of five sheep and their human pursuers. One is sure they have been abducted and altered by aliens, two want to retrieve the cell phone and destroy incriminating evidence it holds, and Tod and Gran just want to get their sheep back.

These sheep have quite a few adventures, all resulting from hilarious misunderstandings by both ovines and humans. As the quest continued, I didn't see how the story could possibly be resolved, but the authors serve up a satisfying ending for all...well, almost. You'll have to read it to see. This is the first in what promises to be a delightful series aimed at readers aged eight to 12. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good "Clean" Fun for All Ages 2 Jun 2012
By K. Bauer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I read this to my children, ages 5 and 8, while we waited for the school bus in the mornings. Some of it was too complicated for the 5 year old to keep up with, and she did get a couple characters mixed up. She loved it nonetheless, enjoying the silliness throughout. My 8 year old seemed to follow the plot without me having to explain, loved all the humor, and hoped the whole while that the bad guys would get caught. I got so immersed in the plot that I had convinced myself it was true-to-life. Best of all, in the end the sheep witness what they interpret as the successful completion of their quest. Since I'd just about convinced myself it could be a true story and I don't go in for the fantasy stuff, I didn't think it was possible. The authors surprised me.

It's so refreshing to read a book that has clean language, humor that I can appreciate (none of the grade school humor), an engaging plot, and ordinary real-life characters. My older child likes to read the fantasy books with the mythological beasts and special powers, but what I enjoyed most about this book is that it had none of those. (Shhh.... Don't tell the warrior sheep I said that.)
