Product Description

From creator Russell T. Davies (executive producer Doctor Who, Torchwood) comes the third season of riveting comedy drama Queer As Folk USA. Full of adventure, love and friendship, Queer as Folk follows the lives of five gay friends who go to work, raise children, look forward to the weekend.

Based on the groundbreaking British series, this brave, funny and sometimes graphic portrayal of a world not usually seen on television provides an intimate look at a group of gay men and women unapologetically celebrating life. Relationships, careers, loves and ambitions unfold in a remarkable tapestry of everyday contemporary life set against the lively urban backdrop of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Realistic and frank, Queer As Folk, a one - hour drama, shows that, despite their differences, all people share a common bond - their humanity and that's what really counts.

At the end of Season 2, Brian (Gale Harold, Deadwood, Grey’s Anatomy) had been dumped by Justin (Randy Harrison) for violin player Ethan, and the two are still going strong in the third season. Lindsay (Thea Gill, Dante’s Cove) and Mel (Michelle Clunie, Diagnosis Murder, ER) discuss whether or not they want another child. Things naturally get a bit heated when they have to decide who should carry the child, and who might be the father. Ted (Scott Lowell Frasier, American Dad) continues to date Emmett (Peter Paige, Grey’s Anatomy, American Dad) and each experience a change in working status with poor Ted ending up taking a plunge into being a porn star...

5.0 out of 5 stars Continuing on in fine form, Season 3 is a treat 25 Aug 2008
If you enjoyed the first two seasons, season 3 will be right up your alley.

Following on from the second season, Michael is still dating HIV+ Ben, Justin and Ethan are still together, and though Brian denies he has feelings for Justin, that seems to be the only thing he thinks about. Unexpected relationships blossom, the arrival of a teenage hustler stirs things up, and a new client of Brian's threatens the freedom of everyone on Liberty Avenue. It's definitely Queer as Folk - complete with the graphic sex scenes and frank depictions of life - but a little bit darker.

This season is shorter than the previous 2, coming in at only 14 episodes. In these episodes issues are dealt with quicker, though at times it seems like they're dealt with too quickly - the over arching theme takes a long time to come to a conclusion, as it would in real life, but some things seem a bit too cut and paste. Regardless of that fact, the season is still excellent and some great issues are explored.

The only real downside about this release is that having loved it and finished it in days, and there's no set date for seasons 4 and 5. Having contacted WarnerBros they have said that there are plans to release the last 2 seasons, however dates have not been decided. Hopefully it won't take too long because the nature of Queer as Folk dictates it should be watched in close succession, and having to wait for another year for another box set would drain on the climax achieved in the season finale.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not afraid to confront the issues 11 July 2008
By Mr. Patrick A. Harrington VINE™ VOICE
I found this very refreshing. I enjoyed the UK version but this was much darker and more political. I know a lot of people who were into the soundtrack of the UK one (many quite unexpected). The US version doesn't have the same pop feel. It deals with very serious issues. The sex scenes are also a little more graphic. It didn't offend me but I suppose it would some. It would be a real shame if that stopped people from looking at the underlying themes which are common to everyone. There is a bit of stereotyping (of the anti-Gay Stockwell amongst others) but I suppose we all have difficulty putting ourselves in the shoes of another!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a fab programme! 26 Jun 2008
Have become completely hooked on this programme! Loved the British version and was a bit reluctant to watch this, BUT it is absolutely fabulous. Now own seasons 1, 2 and 3. Season 3 has more of a plotline rather than the character/relationship slant that Seasons 1 and 2 had. It is really watchable and what can I say, Randy (Justin) looks fab with his longer hair!!!
