This is a tremendous effort from Queensryche, full of soaring vocals, catchy power chords, tremendously accomplished guitarwork and pulsating percussion. All of the tracks are first-rate and memorable; the studio recordings are packed with artful ingenuity and technical brilliance, and when you listen to the live recordings, you can just imagine getting blown away with the rest of the fans witnessing a band 'on fire', and still getting better. The songwriting is very intelligent, and the singing is always special - the quality and range of the vocals constantly send a shiver down my spine. Geoff Tate is one of the great HM lead singers, no question. Yes, 'Empire', 'Rage for Order' and 'Operation Mindcrime 1' are rightly regarded by many as three of the best heavy metal albums of all time, but this is a great album nonetheless and fully deserving of five stars. If you are new to Queensryche, this is a great place to start getting into a great band and heading towards Operation Mindcrime 1 and beyond......!
