Pretty much what I was expecting - a few more boxes with interesting info than previous guides and some extra maps, which are always helpful. Sometimes though the descriptions of places can dilly dally about a bit too much - I want to say "just tell me why do people go there - what is the key thing about the place?". But generally very good and will fit into my handbag.

'Does what it says on the tin ' Detailed descriptions of all districts and major towns within Queensland. Recommendations for things to see and do, getting around, places to stay and restaurants; suggested itinaries; a history of Queensland through the centuries; food and drink; environmental isues etc.
There is a short, specific section covering the Barrier Reef with colour photographs and brief coverages of the natural history, environmental issues, descriptions of various islands and towns, access to the reef, top dive sites.
Good area guide.

We are travelling to Queensland next year and have found this book invaluable, it is packed with really useful tips, and we used it to source our accommodation in Cairns and got a really great Hostel, this book saved us pounds on our accommodation so it really justified the price! The information is specific enough that you can use it to plan your trip in detail. A great buy
