4.0 out of 5 stars Probably for Diana Dors fans only. 23 Mar 2010

The first three episodes are a bit slow - but by episode four of the first Season, this Sitcom has come into its own, and was one of the funniest in the Set.

I recall watching this Series at the time it originally aired and have not seen it in the forty years since. (gosh - doesn't it make one feel old...!) I loved Diana Dors - even as a child, and I guess that's why I watched this back then, and had to have it now, but unfortunately, unlike many old comedies from the same period they are also releasing; I don't think this has aged particularly well, and so some people may be a little disappointed.

Some episodes definitely seem to 'struggle' a bit, and so this may be for Dors fans only. It does not help either that not only have they not been re-mastered, but several episodes are in black and white. This was due to the notorious colour Strike back then which went on to disrupt many other hit TV Series, including 'Upstairs, Downstairs', 'Nearest And Dearest' and so many others.

Nevertheless - a great value for money Box Set at this ridiculously low price!

A touch of 70s nostalgia. I was 11 when it was first shown but i have vivid memories of Diana Dors and the disfuctional family. Watched all three dvds in one day. New item (sealed)great price. A must for all Diana Dors fans and 70s retro.

4.0 out of 5 stars Of another time! 17 Oct 2009

I collect UK sitcoms from the 70's and 80's, and when this one aired I was aged 7-9, and to be frank I don't remember it at all.

Noteable for featuring Diana Dors being Diana Dors(!)and a young(ish!) Tony Caunter, it really is a forerunner of 'Shameless' featuring as it does a family of layabouts whose whole existence is one of being workshy, and going down the pub.

Whilst in one way the humour featured is timeless, in another it's the most dated sitcom I've ever seen.

I don't think it will ever be classed as a classic sitcom by any stretch of the imagination, but it is still incredibly watchable as a time capsule, and hats off again to the incredible people at Network DVD for releasing it.

One for Diana Dors fans and completists only.
