This is the second half of Memphis Minnie's recorded out put and although there is a certain redundancy to the material it is more than made up by her enthusiasm and the easy expertise with which she sings and plays guitar. As with all JSP Box sets it is a great value for the dollar. The set covers 1937 to 1953 and consists of five discs (120 tracks) with an informative and entertaining annotated discography. The sound quality is exactly what I'd expect from this time period and if you collect other music from this time period it should be no surprise. This is my 11th JSP Box and I haven't been unhappy yet. If you just have to have a chunk o' Minnie I would get the first one. If you are a completest get both. Stylistically the music does change to a more refined Chicago sound in the second set as opposed to the raw delta sound of volume 1. She was the most significant female guitar player to come out of the delta in the 20's and her stuff is extremely listenable even today.
