Book Description

'I've bought up the business, all of it. From this morning.'
Diana Armstrong's announcement in the spring of 1963 stuns her daughter Carol and overthrows all her preconceptions about what life has to offer, for both of them. But first Carol has to overcome her anger against her recently widowed mother, and her complicated feelings for her dead father. Then there is feckless husband Kenny and their expected child...
But her love for the family business in which she grew up wins her over. Together, two women in a man's world, mother and daughter work to build up the crumbling haulage business into a thriving enterprise. But is it always to be at the expense of their personal lives, of love and happiness?

More About the Author

I have been writing stories since I was eight, with only a brief interruption for the births of our children.

Now a grandmother, I am still writing, mostly historical novels. I have 22 published fiction titles under three different names - mostly as Helen Cannam, but also (for 7 early historical romances) as Caroline Martin and Mary Corrigan. Most of my novels are now available at the Kindle store. For more about these books, visit my website at

A woman running a haulage business in a very traditional rural area. Follow the the personal and business hardships and triumphs in this novel set in rural county Durham. I read it straight after finishing 'Family Business' and had difficulty putting it down.
