This fictionalised account of the life of Esther, Queen of the Persians, draws on the known facts about Esther's life in the Persian Empire in 481BC.
From the Author
Researching the life of someone who lived centuries ago is always difficult, especially where there have been serious changes in the religious and social structure of the location. In this case, things were made more difficult because of the Biblical usage of titles for people rather than their given names (such as Ahasuerus, Vashti and Memucan). It has taken over twenty years to unravel the facts and I believe that the story is as close as we will ever get to the real truth. It is not written as a religious book and is not designed specifically to endorse any specific Jewish or Persian customs or Holy Days. Right from the start I was intrigued by this young woman and I hope that this book has done justice to her courage and fortitude in the face of overwhelming opposition.
