5.0 out of 5 stars Killer Queen's Live Killin' Performances 16 May 2007
By Phiz
Format:Paperback
This is a great little book and contains everything you could possibly need to know about Queen Live. For a small format there is also some great pictures of the band over the years, many of which I had never seen before.

There are song lists for nearly every gig Queen ever played, interspersed with trivia about the band, venues and even bootleg recordings. It gives a very clear impresion of the evolution of Queen's live Performances. At the back there is a break-down of which songs were played ( and which ones were never played) and all the various cover versions Queen employed over the years, all very clearly laid out.

One thing though, If like me, you prefer early Queen, it can be a little fustrating reading about the great early gigs knowing that there hasn't really been anything officially released on cd to support the enthusiastic comments. A decent live album featuring songs such as 'White Queen', 'Liar' and 'Stone Cold Crazy' would be most welcome.

Indispensable to any Queen Fan

4.0 out of 5 stars A Review of Greg's book 4 Jun 2003
Format:Paperback
Although I found this book to be a wholly enjoyable read I should point out that there are certain inaccuracy’s within in it. For instance Greg Brooks states that the support for the concert at Edinburgh Ingliston in 1982 was “Teardrop Explodes” – it wasn’t. Instead it was Canadian group “Heart”. This is typical of the mistakes, of which there are very few considering the amount of concerts that Queen did over the years. Also, although he does list all the concerts and tours (mistakes included) he doesn’t give a complete run down setlist wise as, by his own admission, most of the information is based on bootlegs he has heard and as far as I know not all Queen shows were recorded. What he does so is gig a description of some of the shows and what songs were particularly good live. All in all though it is like I said a wholly enjoyable read and if I were to mark it out of 100 I would give Greg 90 just for trying in the first place to tackle such a mammoth task.
