I wasn't quite sure what to expect with this book, so bought it anyway, and have to say im very pleased with it. There are no photos save for the cover pictures, but the author has obviously spent a lot of time putting together his thoughts on all the Queen songs / albums and tours and a lot of research into the background of each. The book is split into sections (Albums, Songs, Tours, Videos etc) and its good to read some of the stories behind each. A lot of the information is known, but as the book also coveres unrelaeased tracks its an informative read. Probably not for the casual reader, but certainly for the Queen fan who wants everything. Like any book of this kind, a lot of the song overviews include the authors own views on the song/album, so i found myself disagreeing with some of his views on which songs/albums were great and which were not so great, but thats half the fun of a book like this. Its very wide ranging and covers Queen, solo releases and pre-Queen releases. So overall an excellent book which is good to dip in and out when you feel like it rather than to read from cover to cover. The only ommission i could find was the solo track from Freddie "You Are The Only One" which personally i think is an amazing song and its a shame it was never completed, would have been good to find out more about its origins...maybe one for the updated version in a few years ;-) although having said that, i could have missed away to check again!

This is the Titan reprinted version of Georg's 2007 book of the same name printed by Reynolds and Haim, so if you own that copy already, the odds are you won't want this new one as there isn't anything new to add. However if you have a Queen fan in your home that doesn't own a copy, this one is a delightful trip through the albums as well as individual tracks so that the reader knows the bands full history and trivia in regard to the groups work together and as individuals.

Sadly there are no illustrations in this version (not even album covers) but the sheer volume of information makes this an invaluable piece for the Queen Collector. A decent book all in and one that will have pride of place on my shelves next to my own Queen albums. (Yes I'm that old. LOL)

From all the Queen related books I have seen "Queen - Complete Works" is the one that combines extensive research with excellent writing and makes it a thoroughly enjoyable reading for everyone who is interested in the music of Queen.

The book has 424 pages, small print (no pictures) full of all the facts a fan can wish for collected in one book for reading pleasure or quick reference. The book is divided into eight parts which cover all aspects of the work by Queen, solo work, special events, QPR and the musical.

The "album" section describes the production of each album from recording to release using all possibly available comments by band members and producers to give us a full picture of the studio work for each album including reviews by the media at the time. Details like catalogue number, release dates, song lists, chart position are included. Reading this album section we get a complete survey of the Queen and solo studio work full of information that was probably never available in such completeness before.

Another important part is the song-by-song section including all Queen and solo songs as well as all songs ever performed live by pre-Queen bands, Queen, Queen members, and QPR. Also all unreleased demos and songs we ever heard about. For each listed released song there is information about the album(s) it was released on, the single release(s) and chart position(s). For each song we find all information the author could provide including trivia like for example explaining who Khashoggi is. The song entries vary from 1-3 sentences (for example "Kalinka") to over a page of information (for example "Barcelona"). This song section can be used like an encyclopaedia and is sorted alphabetically.

More chapters of the book contain compilation albums, collaborations, post-Queen activities, a complete live/tour section, video, interactive, the musical and a single discography.

Yes, I found some smaller omissions and mistakes and I do not agree with everything the author says. However, this book was written by an author who was motivated by his genuine love of Queen music and I can relate to his words on each and every page. He never lectures, he never judges, he is never blind in his love for the music but keeps an open mind and is not afraid to voice his criticism. He is also a very good writer who manages to keep the reader interested although there are no "stories" to make it an easier read.

This book is highly recommended for everybody who is interested in Queen, knows a lot about the band or almost nothing or who cannot get enough.

Your Valentine, as was previously said by another reviewer, got this completely right in her review. I actually received my copy of this book a few days ago but have only just got round to reading it. I have to say that judging on the few sections (so far just the albums part) I am finding this an extraordinary good read. There have been some facts I'd no idea about, backed up by some really nice quotes from the various band members themselves.

So far it say 4 out of 5 for a great effort. This for me at least is the definitive book for fact finding Queen fans everywhere - even if there is (thankfully) very few slight mistakes in it. Well done!!

"Queen - Complete Works" is a remarkable book. So accurate, so through, so in-depth, very well researched and written in an easy to use and informative style. This is, quite simply, *the* best book on the subject of Queen's musical catalogue and that of its members. This is "the bible" of Queen discographies and it will be an indispensible resource for all serious fans of this endlessly entertaining band. You will not be disappointed - guaranteed.

This is the book that Queen fans have been waiting for! It is full of splendid attention to detail, but not without humour, as well as giving much biographical background to all of the songs and albums. It nicely ties up all the loose ends regarding the wealth of material that Queen and their solo careers have produced, and is the ultimate reference book for everything to do with the finest British band of all time.

Very detailed analysis of Queen's whole repertory as well as interesting anecdotes regarding their "back stage" life.
A must-have reference handbook!
