Product Description

Killer-for-hire Quarry is trying to lie low when he gets a midnight visit from two other gunmen sent by an old associate. Someone wants Quarry off the scene--for keeps. Back in print, this early crime novel by the author of The Road to Perdition shows once again that nobody is harder-boiled than Quarry. With a new Afterword by the author.

About the Author

Max Allan Collins, the author of many crime and detective novels, has been nominated fifteen times for the Shamus award for best private-eye fiction and has won twice with two historical novels featuring Nate Heller. He created he graphic novel on which the Oscar-winning film Road to Perdition was based. But long before Heller, and long before Perdition, when Collins was a student at the University of Iowa Writers Workshop, he created Quarry, the assassin-for-hire who quickly became a cult favorite among fans of hard-boiled fiction.

Quarry Strikes Again! 24 Jan 2012
By nixlyn
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Having just finished the first Quarry - I read this in one sitting.

Quarry is a contract killer who ends up a bit on the lonely side with contract killers coming after him!

Mr Collins weaves a powerful, interesting and dramatic story involving his lead character. It may be hard to like a contract killer who makes no excuses for his job but you end up liking him none the less. There is much humour and irony in Mr Collins writing and neither he or Quarry take themselves to seriously. There are lots of twists and turns but it is the his quality to absorb you that is his greatest strength.

Mr Collins does not seem well known in the UK - but he should be and I'll do my best to help!
