Product Description

Amazon Review

At best Desktop Publishing is an art form; at worst it can be a living hell of buzzwords, complicated printing processes and text manipulation.

Software packages such as Adobe's QuarkXpress have helped to ease the production process but for those of us who have never seen a printing press, titles like this are sure to break up the boulders on the rocky road to publishing success. With explanatory text for both Macintosh and Windows versions of the package (including the version four release), author Robert Shufflebotham provides a patient and well- illustrated guide to getting the best from a tool which has become a printing industry standard.

Over 15 chapters the book gradually feeds the reader information at a comfortable rate, illustrating important aspects through extensive use of diagrams and step-by-step instructions. From a thorough explanation of the basic tools through an examination of how to enter and edit text on screen to complex processes such as creation of layered documents for full-colour output and the set up of master templates, Shufflebotham's treatment of the subject matter puts the reader at ease with the subject and gives the impression that nothing is impossible. Highly recommended.
