DVD Description

The clock-stopping, heart-pounding adventures continue in the third extraordinary season of the Emmy Award-winning Quantum Leap. In these 22 thrilling episodes, Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) leaps from one exciting identity and time to another, still chasing his dream to return to his present, and desperately hoping that time is on his side. Sam's a Navy Seal, a beauty pageant contestant, a bounty hunter, and a rock star (who really sings!). He even voyages to his 16-year-old self, exploring his family's history and striving to change their tragic past. Returning to guide the action-packed journeys is smart-mouthed Al (Dean Stockwell), a holograph that only Sam can see and hear.

I'm a big fan of the first two seasons, but in my opinion season 3 is where the pace of Quantum leap starts to change and gain momentum. Not only do we get to see a stronger relationship between Sam and Al, but (carrying on from the last episode of season 2 where we meet Al's first wife) we get leaps that tell parts of a fuller story; like "the leap home", "Boogieman", "future boy" and of course - the season finale. We also see Al play a bigger role in some leaps than just a "guide" and this just increases the excitement of the story.

After watching this its left me with a great desire for season 4 to come out ASAP so as to learn more about the Quantum Leap universe. Unfortunately I have a feeling we will be waiting for a long time for it yet!

As already mentioned here, there are few more instances of "incorrect" leap out-in at the end of just a few of these 22 episodes. I have been told that this occurs where there was no footage of the next episode, and so a selection of stock sequences were used to fill the gap. It’s a shame that Universal couldn’t throw some together or just use the intro from the next episode in its complete form. However, this would have had repercussions amongst fans looking for authenticity. It's true that you can't please everyone!

A great DVD boxset – and a much more user friendly method of DVD storage!

I Bought Seasons 1 Through 3 To See Just How Good They Were Against How I Remembered Them. They Have Actually Got Better Now I've Seen Them In Full & Understood Them Now That I'm More Grown Up. This Features Deeper Issues Than Previous Seasons And Was A Very Unique Series For It's Time. Please Give This A Try.

Everyone reviewing this series thinks it better than the previous two but I only found about 6 episodes out of the 22 that I really enjoyed. Maybe the producers were searching for more interesting bodies for Sam Beckett to inhabit.

The most unmissable Episode in Series 3 is Glitter Rock for the rock music, followed by Piano Man for the middle of the road stuff, both played by Scott Bakula of course, also Private Dancer, where he leaps into a the body of a Chippendale, (without actually showing much of himself) but this story involves a deaf girl dancer and the dancing is excellent. Another good episode I laughed a lot at is Miss Deep South where he leaps into the form of a southern beauty queen and wears the evening clothes and even high heels and swimsuits. A brave man indeed!! On a more serious note, The Leap Home and Black on White on Fire are also excellent. The daftest one was Eight and a Half Months and I'll leave you to work that one out for yourself.

All in all great entertainment though and I can't wait to get started on series 4 and 5.
