Foam windshields are essential accessories for virtually every microphone, whether in use indoors or outside.Indoors, a good windshield helps to prevent loud popping sounds being created when the air from the 'p' and 't' sounds in speech or sung vocals reach the microphone's diaphragm. Outdoors, even a light breeze can cause severe distortion and intermittent popping sounds as it strikes the microphone's diaphragm, but this can be reduced or prevented altogether with a decent windshield.
Rycote make a range of snugly fitting foam windshields for most microphones on the market, from compact, small-diaphragm reporters' models to broadcast and film-sound shotguns and large-diaphragm recording microphones. Made from high-quality, ultra-violet-resistant foam, these windshields are available in a range of colours. The larger varieties may even be printed with corporate logos or slogans if required.
The Shotgun Mic Foam is a discreet, slip-on foam windshield, designed to protect the microphone head against light wind and pop noise. Made of durable, high quality open-cell acoustic foam, these windshields offer up to 20 dB wind noise attenuation, whilst keeping high frequency loss to a minimum.
Engineered exclusively for Rycote, this high quality foam also provides excellent resistance against the damaging effects of moisture and UV light.
All our Shotgun Mic Foam Windshields can now also be fitted with an additional Rycote Foam Windjammer for a further 12 dB wind noise attenuation.
