Product Description

Product Description

The Qualcast Panther 380 cylinder hand mower provides a clean scissor like cut on your lawn and with a full 38 cm cutting width it is ideal for small lawns.

Qualcast

You can put your trust in Qualcast as they have 90 years of experience in producing top quality mowers. The first Panther lawnmower was made in 1932 and its success ensured it is still in production today.

A Cylinder cutting system

Cylinder mowers use a horizontally mounted cylinder of blades that cut against a fixed bottom blade for a superior scissor-like cut.

Cylinder mowers give the best finish to your lawn as they cut the grass cleanly without ripping it.

Easy to Push and No Running Costs

Due to the high geared side wheels, the mower is very easy to push. It also gives you complete freedom to use the lawnmower anywhere free of charge.

Height of Cut

Simple “nut and bolt” adjustments easily change the height of cut, for different lawn conditions. There is a range of heights with positions from 15 - 43 mm.

Compact Storage

The Panther 380 is easy to store due to the 4-piece, stud mounted handles which quickly remove for compact storage.

Get stripes with the Rear roller

With the rear roller you can gain stripes over your lawn, and importantly it offers stability up to lawn edges.

Grass Collection

With a 25 L grass collection box it means less time is spent emptying and more time can be spent gardening.

Lightweight

The Panther 380 is extremely lightweight at only 7 kg meaning it is easy to move around the garden.

Guarantee

With this Qualcast lawnmower you get a 2 year parts and labour guarantee.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Pleased 3 May 2010
By Curlynob TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
I picked one of these up from Homebase today, where for the purposes of price comparison it is currently £[]. Everything apart from the handles came assembled. A few nuts to tighten and I was ready to get going. It managed my small lawn quite manfully. It was the first cut of the year so the grass was quite long. I had to push and pull it backwards and forwards a couple of times to literally plough it through the longer grass, but it really wasn't hard work. Once I was through with the longer grass, it literally glided through the shorter grass.

As far as I can tell this model is exactly the same as the 300 model, except that this one has a cutting edge of 38CM rather than 30CM. It seems pretty robust and well finished. The grass box seems a little flimsy compared to everything else, but it doesn't really have to do very much apart from sit there and collect grass. The grass seems to go everywhere a little and not always in the grass box, but no more than any mower I've ever owned. Height adjustment is flexible and just involves loosening a couple of bolts. Similarly if the cutting edge isn't quite "cutting it" you can tighten or loosen a bolt as required. The mechanism that drives the blades is very highly geared, and only a small push of the mower sends the blades spinning for several seconds after you've stopped pushing.

I found mowing my small lawn with this unit very satisfying. The grass was left very neatly "cut" and not "torn" like with my old Flymo. Based on my experience so far, I would describe this mower as a good quality product that is very practical for smaller lawns.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly recommend it 22 Aug 2010
    By Scully Bloke VINE™ VOICE
I absolutely love this lawnmower. I still have a petrol one in the garage but prefer this one. The reasons are simple.
It cuts better. it uses no power. It therefore has no ongoing running costs. Its green. It gives me a work out when using it. Its easier to get into awkward places. It stripes the grass as it has a roller.
You need some basic tools (spanner and screwdriver)to be able to adjust the cutting length and the cylinder against the blade, but once set its done for the season.
    Thoroughly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars qualcast panther 38cm push cylinder mower 10 Sep 2010
We are delighted with this product. Overall we think it is really excellent value for money.
It works really well, cuts the grass far more efficiently than any rotary type machine, is excellent for the environment and is easy to use despite having to be pushed. It cuts our lawns (which are probably around 200 sq m) more quickly than we were expecting.
It won't cut really long grass or spiky flowering stalks, but copes with bumps & uneven ground better than expected. The grass box is a bit rudimentary but does work although some grass sprays outside of the box if the mower is pushed fast.
We wouldn't go back to a motorised rotary/hover/electric/etc. ever again - if more people made this conversion it would be a great move!

1.0 out of 5 stars Very dissapointed, extremely light duty, flimsy at best!
It is true that you get what you pay for. At £45 you get exactly that, a cheap, flimsy lawnmower.
