For Stanley, the earthquake is a heaven-sent opportunity. Just before it struck, he was ogling Sheila, a female jogger, and that's not all he'd like to do to her. Now the city lies in ruins, and Sheila lies trapped and naked in her bathtub. Can her husband make it to her before Stanley does?

WOW, what can I say! This book is Brilliant, I couldnt put it down! It focuses on the fight to stay alive from a devestating earthquake, not only from danger of rubble and aftershokes, but just the fight to stay in one piece trying to get home, with perverts, murderes and looters on the loose, but also has some very funny humour.

This is the most compelling book I have read so far! Thank you Richard Laymon, I am your biggest fan! I have ordered more Laymon books and cant wait to recieve them! Tammyx

This is another quality book from Mr Laymon. The story is basically about a deranged man who holds hostage the woman of his dreams after an earthquake while her family make a frantic dash to come to her aid.It contains Richard's usual dose of sex and violence and it is such a great read.Once you pick it up you will not want to put it down.Quality.You will be missed Richard.

one of Laymon's best! 22 Feb 2006
Format:Paperback
I've read all of Richard Laymon's books - over thirty - and this one, based in Los Angeles once again, is among the very best. It's written in the typical "laymon-style": Terrible circumstances (in this case, an earthquake) force people to quick and unusual actions in order to survive, and bring out the worst in some.

This is one of those Laymon books I've read twice (as I did with Funland, Night in the lonesome October, One rainy night, No sanctuary, Come out tonight, Fiends, Blood Games, Savage, Midnight Lair and The Woods Are Dark) - it's that good. I just had to read it again after a couple of years, just for the sheer fun of it.

Laymon fans, insofar they don't already know it, will be absolutely delighted with this book. Buy it now!

Very good, worth reading
An enjoyable book for horror fans. A more believeable plot than some of his others, due to the fact that it is dealing with real characters and not 'creatures' or 'monsters' . Read more
