Ordered this particular dongle due to it stating it supports A2DP, unlike some others as i would be mainly using it to stream music to my stereo bluetooth headphones.

Once i received this device i just plugged it in to my laptop (running Windows 7) and the bare basic of drivers are quickly installed. If you just want to transfer files to your bluetooth device that's all you'll need to do. However.... to get this device to support A2DP you'll need to do some hunting around the web to find a set of drivers/program to allow it to do this. The included software that came with this device was useless on Windows 7. Constant errors during installation. So i decided to get the latest version of the program on-line. Now the software that is included with this device might be free if you can get it to install. The updated software from the main site is not though (bluesoleil).

After further digging around i found an older version of the software for free which i decided to use instead. All works great once i installed it.

This device can quite happily stream music and transfer files once you go through the process of finding a suitable program to meet your needs. Has a decent enough range for my needs too. Highly doubt you're gonna get 100 meter range like it claims to have though. I could only get 10 meters from my laptop before sound started to get very choppy. But like i said, meets my needs.

If it wasn't for the hassle of finding the software on line i would give this 5*

The supplied version of the "BlueSoleil" software doesn't work with Windows 7, and probably not Vista either (*). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get my hands on a newer version of BlueSoleil, at least not unless I was willing to fork out the full price for it (I wasn't!)

It *does* work with the standard Windows 7 Bluetooth facilities, but those appear to be fairly basic, not including all of what BlueSoleil is meant to do.

I got this pretty cheap- and now I know why!- so I really can't complain. (Assuming that it's old stock as it doesn't list compatibility with anything newer than XP.) Not even worth sending back at this price, and it'll probably be useful at some point, so I'm not upset. But I'd definitely recommend paying a bit more for a dongle you know works with Windows 7 and/or Vista (*) if you don't fancy messing around hunting for drivers!

(*) Software and drivers that work with Windows 7 normally work with Vista and vice versa, since 7 is really just a massively improved version of Vista.
