Q's Legacy tells the story of how 84 Charing Cross Road came about, and how Helene Hanff's relationship with that shop, and the books she bought began and impacted upon her life. Like 84 charing cross road, this is a charming, nostalgic, and often very moving story. I love the way Helene Hanff writes, which in itself I suppose is Q's legacy

How I LOVE this woman's writing! This particular book is about how 84 Charing Cross Road impacted on her life, and charts her visits to London which she unfortunately didn't manage to do when Frank Doel was alive.
She is such a warm person, and I would have loved to have met her, or just written her a letter of thanks for all the hours of pleasure she gives me, reading her books. Hers are books I cherish and reread.

Reading 84 Charing Cross Road recently - a book club choice - was a re-read for me. Mention of Q's Legacy sent me on a chase for that and also Quiller Couch's "The Art of Reading' and 'The Art of Writing' plus as many Helene Hanff books as I could turn up. What a character Hanff was. I have enjoyed all her books - refreshingly honest, (Q,s legacy?), and without the dreary - yes, dreary - sexual content that seems to be required for anything to sell these days. Read them all - they will do you good.
