5.0 out of 5 stars More than 5* 28 Oct 2013

Qaddafi's Point Guard was a book I could not put down. The way Alex was able to tell his story and paint a picture which allowed us to join him as he shared his experiences was second to none, it kept me engaged and made me want to turn to the next page again and again. If i could give this book more than 5 stars... I would! I would recommend this book to anyone - not just sports-fans...take the time and read the incredible journey Alex has been on.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read 24 Feb 2014
By Ant
Format:Hardcover
I have to admit that I haven't read many books lately that have gripped me from front cover to back - this did. A story of a love of basketball but also one of wild instinct to survive. I don't think any of us could ever imagine Alexs' situation but the way it is written it does drag you in to his world.
Alex signed a copy when he played down here in Plymouth and what a humble and genuinely nice man he his.
I did try to read it a chapter a night but just gave up on that idea after two days and read the rest.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic informative Read 20 Oct 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I am not a reader of books but this book I could not put down.It was an amazing story to read sort of two stories in one ...firstly Alex life growing up and then his horrendous time caught up in the Libyan civil war.I know Alex as a pro basketball player in England and what he went through in Libya was absolutely shocking. The book is written from the heart and nothing about his fight for survival has been left out.Truly inspiring and at the same time heart breaking to think that Alex had to endure it and it is a burden that will be with him for ever.
To see Alex today is a testament of his strong character and his strong will to survive.Alex could so easily have given up on life but instead he did what he had to do to survive. Until you read his story you cannot imagine what he had to do to survive, seeing many horrendous things that no one should have to see or endure in this world. This is one of the best books that I have ever read and I highly recommend this book not only to basketball fans but to any one. You hear all about Libya in the media but this book makes it become more real ..

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, long wait time 31 May 2014
Format:Hardcover
Bought it for my Dad's birthday after reading a fascinating summary article on BBC news! He absolutely loves it and it's one of the few books he's never seen in the thousands of bookshops he's been in. I can't wait to steal it off him. Took ages to arrive though!
