I'd been trying to do Snail's Trail patches for some time, and this had just the information I needed to complete them well. Not sure it's a beginners book, but I'd recommend it to anyone trying a tricky block.

Charming book 23 Sept. 2013
By Fan-o-Amazon - Published on Amazon.com

This quilt book is more than just instructions. It is a collectors item, eye candy, educational, and much more. The book not only teaches you how to do each square, but also has recipes to match each one. Then the enjoyment of seeing the beautiful and various versions of the same quilt made by others. Absolutely a "must have" for sewers and quilters!

Eleanor scores again 6 July 2013

I will always have a fondness for Eleanor Burns as it was with her direction that I made my first log cabin quilt. She has achieved her success because she is good at what she does. This book is just more evidence of that.
This book is lovely...lots of nice pictures and recipes too.
I think you will be glad that you invested in this one for your quilt book collection.

Good book, clear directions unless you don't have some specialized rulers. 31 Jan. 2014

This is the second book of Eleanor Burns I have purchased. I really love her books and how clear the instructions are. The only reason a star is missing is because I have only completed two quilts so I'm still learning. If you don't purchase the rulers she uses (like the flying geese ruler) then you'll need to learn how to do these blocks somewhere else and come back to the book. I don't like to buy a ruler for every type of block. It makes an expensive hobby that much more expensive and you have a lot of extra tools laying around you may never use again. That is my only complaint about the book. I would still recommend this book and in the future, will probably buy another one of her books when I get comfortable with techniques I've learned here.
