This book is an essential purchase for prospective and seasoned passengers alike. Captain Ronald W. Warwick skilfully guides the reader through the fascinating and colourful history of the finest ship afloat. I particularly liked the breathtaking photo of the QE2 at anchor in the Geiranger Fjord.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book for the best ship! 7 July 2001
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
I now have all three editions of this book and this one is the best yet. After 31 years of service, the QE2 is as magnificent as ever and Captains Warwick's latest book certainly reflects, both in words and pictures, the grandeur of this vessel and her contribution to British maritime heritage.

4.0 out of 5 stars What insight on this Grand Queen! 1 Oct 2004
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I have to admit to being biased. I am about to go (at time of writing this review) on my 1st transatlantic crossing on the QE2, and so am in an information devouring mode (reading as much as I can). This book has been one of the most enjoyable and thorough as it is written by a man who has captained the ship. It is probably not the best written book in the world, but that matters very little as it is chock full of insights, observations and of course a very detailed and thorough history of Cunard and the QE2. The only short coming is it stops at the point of their take over and just as it is about to have the 1999 refit. But I am sure another edition will cover that (as this book is constantly updated and new issues out). It has interesting photos and very much a great read for anyone interested in the QE2 on any level

5.0 out of 5 stars Ah, the memories! 27 Aug 2005

I had the wonderful opportunity of working on board the Queen Elizabeth 2 during my career at sea. I served for 10 months as the Captains' Steward and during that time met many wonderful and interesting people.

These days I work as a Butler for one of the former passengers I waited on at the Captain's table, many years ago so in a way, it is a reunion of sorts.

I found this book to be very informative and and full of wonderful photographs. I especially enjoyed the look "behind the scenes," that many passengers don't get to see when they are on board. People who have actually sailed on the Queen Elizabeth 2 will no doubt enjoy this book and all that Captain Warwick has included.

5.0 out of 5 stars QE2 10 Feb 2000

I think this is a wonderful updated edition of the book. It has new pictures of it's 1994 refit. The only disapointment was the deck plan in the inside cover was not updated. This is though a wonderful book to have if you have been on the QE2, planning to go on it, or just interested in ocean liners.
