Sharp Reports comprises a Windows component with full reporting functionality. The Sharp Reports component is a powerful report generator that executes reports created by the Sharp Reports Designer. Reports may be designed within the .NET IDE or using the stand alone designer. Sharp Reports are based on the 'band' paradigm, with text, images and graphics being placed by means of 'controls'. Programmers can incorporate reports easily in applications by placing the component on a form and calling one of its 'PrintReport' methods.

The report component incorporates a standard preview making pre-viewing as simple as report creation, requiring only a method call. Custom previews may be made by placing a .NET PrintPreview control on a form and connecting it to the Sharp Report control. Complex or asymmetrical reports are made easy by using the many events of the report control. This allows alterations to layout etc to be made at run-time. The Sharp Report Designer simplifies the building of reports and allows instant pre-viewing while the report is in the design stage. Layout is created visually using drag-and-drop tools.
