The Q-Link Pendant is a complete waste of time, an expensive bit of new-age flim-flam promoted on pseudoscientific principles conjured from half-remembered Star Trek episodes. It is a well-packaged, well-presented, and quite commoditised waste of time, but utterly pointless regardless.
It speaks to the efficiency of the Q-Link money-making operation that the pendant is very well packaged. It doesn't reach Apple's levels of presentation luxury, but it certainly strikes for Samsung's. Its box is a neat combination of high-tech flashiness and environmentally conscious efficiency, rectangular panels of sliding and unfolding of brown cardboard marked in circuit patterns and plant designs unfurling to reveal a small cavity in which the pendant is retained, in a somewhat underwhelming little polythene bag. One of the flaps conceals a glossy informational booklet and a before-and-after survey.
Amazon's product description [when this review was written] does not elaborate on the claims in that booklet. The box is also quite brief on the subject. I can only imagine that this is for legal reasons, because it is downright smutty with health-benefit innuendo aimed at convincing the user that the Q-Link pendant can improve their health or treat their conditions, carefully avoiding making any overt, specific statement in an effort to avoid the wrath of organisations like the US Food and Drugs Administration. It's unlikely that this would fly with the UK authorities, and at any rate anyone willing to shell out for as enigmatically-described a product as this has surely done some background reading and is in no illusions as to its mooted effects. It is a quantum-mechanical talisman to improve wellbeing.
It's not even an especially well-made talisman. At first glance or a modest distance, it has a Star Trek Voyager-esque look of the high tech, like a nacho for robots or perhaps a NASA guitar pick, neat copper coils against matte white plastic, opaque convexity against transparent concavity. Up close, it's rather rough around the edges. The mystical Q-Link disc in the middle of my unit was off-angle, and moulding seams were visible around the edges of the triangular main body. The string provided is an unadorned, slightly scratchy bootlace. There were air bubbles in the clear acrylic. It does not feel like much of anything, much less potent Vorlon technology.
I will not elaborate on any great length about the supposed principles behind its operation. As a man who uses quantum mechanics for eight hours a day five days a week I feel qualified in stating that its rambling nonsense about quantum mechanical frequencies and biofields is an equal affront to the real and hard-working scientists in both quantum mechanics and biophysics, no closer to the genuine scientific reality than The Force in Star Wars. It is quantum flapdoodle of the first order.
I do not want to suggest from the above negativity that I did not give the pendant a fair shake. I wore it continuously for the best part of a month. In that time the frequency of my migraines increased, monitor-related eyestrain was completely unaffected, and aside from a few funny looks when the cord was sticking out of my collar, it had no effect on my social interactions. I cannot speak to is effectiveness on sexual potency as my wife flatly refused to go near me for the entire time that I wore it. On the whole, I could discern exactly no effect. This is supposed to be a powerful device. Clearly my preconceptions of its utter futility are more powerful. I should like to harness this ability and put it to practical use.
In summation, this is either a useless bit of pseudomedical apparatus cobbled together by mystics wielding ten-dollar words they don't comprehend, or cynical bit of flapdoodle created to extract money from the vast majority of the population who are not sufficiently trained in physics to recognise its claims as nonsense. When I was offered this item for review, I said yes - for a laugh, to be honest. But I do suffer with anxiety which sometimes takes over my life and so I thought, what can it hurt to try? I read the claims and thought, hmmm. It does seem to make some scientific sense, but it just strikes me as a bit 'hippy trippy'.
The pendant itself is pretty ugly to be hinest, it's not the best design. If it was made into a beautiful piece of jewellry, I'm sure it would sell a lot better - at least it would look nice, regardless of whether it worked or not! I have to admit, I wouldn't buy one. The cord it comes on is not particularly nice. I don't want to show it off, but with most clothes you can still see the cord so I have to tell you, I cut the cord really short and tied it onto the middle of my bra :p so it still sits on my chest but is not noticeable at all!
Now I am not a gullible person and I still think this item is very odd, and I'm not sure at all about the claims. But since using this (and I've worn it every day for several weeks to give it a proper go) my anxiety levels seem to have dropped. It's almost as if I can feel a force preventing them from rising. Sounds mad? I know :s and only my husband knows about this because I would feel ridiculous telling anyone else! I'm well aware it could be a placebo effect but how to find out for sure? I thught about not wearing it for a few days but how is that scientific? I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to have to wear it for several mnths to see how I get on, as my anxiety problems come in waves that last several weeks, so I need to give it chance to start up again! So, altogether, not a very satisfactory review - I can't say either way really about this.
