Product Description

It's New Haven, California and there's a new visitor in town. Who is it? Why, it's a sixty-foot long serpentine death machine; a creature which strips all the living flesh from its victims, and grows stronger and more violent with every attack. So what are you going to do, citizens of New Haven? Are you going to run or are you going to fight?

3.0 out of 5 stars Pure, unadulterated FUN 8 Nov 2001
By A Customer
Format:DVD
A lot better than 1999's shoddy offering, 'King Cobra', 'Python' lends a distinct nod to all those 'classic' Saturday afternoon B-movies from the 1950s. Cheese, cheese and more cheese. And all the better for it. Definitely one for the die-hard fans of 'Anaconda' and 'Lake Placid.'

5.0 out of 5 stars one step up from boa 25 Feb 2006
Format:DVD
having experienced the legend that was boa, which incedently i thought was the greatest film i have ever seen, that was until tonight when i had the greatest of honours. i was able to watch the mighty python in action, the script was outstanding, the acting derserves oscars, and for the special effects, they left me speechless. i thoroughly enjoyed this epic, and now i await the last movie i need to see in order for me to die a happy man, that is BOA VERSUS PYTHON, which has all the ingredients of a classic. i recommend this film to anyone who likes snakes or classic movies in general. have fun witnessing the masterpiece that is Python

2.0 out of 5 stars Snake in the Grass 22 Oct 2001
By A Customer
Format:DVD
Another monster movie about a giant animal that escapes and begins eating the local population of a small village. This time the animal in question is a giant python, which is seemingly more intelligent than a usual snake. It is up to a group of teenage villagers and a cop, along with the scientist who discovered the snake, to try and put an end to it.
We've all seen films like this before and there is nothing really special to make it stand out. Obviously inspired by Anaconda, the snake is CGI but it does look a lot better than in the film mentioned. The acting is attrocious at times (Casper Van Dien maybe an up-and-coming star but he's had too many bad films for my liking). This film is saved by the presence of Robert Englund who turns out a good performance in the role of the scientist who likes snakes. There are some other nice touches to the film, including some good make-up work for the dead bodies.
Of course the film runs like clockwork through most of it in the same formula as the rest of this over-used genre. The part of the film where they try to kill the snake has been done before and its not exciting (you just know that these super monsters have to rise up again for one last stand). It was a straight to video release and you can see why.
I think the studio is making a sequel called Pythons. I hope they use the cash wisely and try to invest more in the way of acting. In some places you were rooting for the snake! And that is always a bad sign

3.0 out of 5 stars Slitheringly entertaining. 17 Jan 2006
Format:DVD
I picked this up and was sceptical to say the least, but for a few pounds, I thought I'd give it a go. The special effects of the snake itself are surpirsingly good. While you can spot the CG effects at times, its still quite inspiring to see such good effects in a film that appears to have had a low budget. Robert Englund plays a good role, and the great thing is that most of the people who are killed completely deserve it, so you are actually cheering the snake for a large part of the movie. Go Mutant Snake!!
The only small drawback is the daft accent by Casper Van Dien. I'm not sure if he is supposed to be from America's Deep South, or possibly some strange European country no-one is familiar with, but its immensely annoying. The film is mindless entertainment, and for the sake of a few pounds is worth risking. Not exactly Oscar material, but good B movie pap.
