2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing!! 28 Dec 2012
Verified Purchase
i have not used it fully but it was disappointing to find out that the kindle Fire HD although it has a camera you can only take photo whilst the screen is facing you
- so to take a photo of anything else you haave to face the screen facing the image which could be a bit of a 'hit and miss'. a bit disappointing to say the least.

1.0 out of 5 stars A rip off! 10 Nov 2012

You can download an app called evernote that uses the exact same camera software for nothing? Makes you wonder who is being ripped off

2.0 out of 5 stars pennypinchers!! 9 Dec 2012

I reckon this is a really brilliant bit of kit spoiled by the pennypinc hing idea that everything is extra!! I'm surprised I haven' t been charged for the keyboard as an "app"!!! Pleased with the kindle but disappointed about the camera app!

It galled me a little, that I paid £160.00 for a Kindle Fire, then had to pay an additional £1.25 in order to activate the "hidden" camera feature (and, yes, hidden turned out to be pretty accurate - although I could see a lens, no way could I find a way to activate it, 'til I stumbled upon this app). It's a bit like buying a bike, and being asked for additional funds in order to ring the bell that came with it. Another annoyance if the fact that the lens and the image you are filming (on the Kindle screen) is front-facing, so you can only really take a picture of yourself. Not much good, if you're an ugly sod like me. So - whilst the product itself appears ok, it's about as useful as a bike (without a bell) for a trout - can't ever see me using it again.

Okay but as you advertise the kindle fire on TV with a camera its a real cheek that you then charge people to access the Camera via an app. BE HONEST. Its misleading.

3.0 out of 5 stars Why is it extra? 2 Dec 2012
By greeny

I spent a good deal of cash on a Kiindle Fire HD wich is fitted with a camera. I then found I had to pay extra for an app to make it work. Presumably if Amazon ever moves into car sales we will be paying extra for a steeering wheel before we can drive it. With the Kindle flying off the shelves, as it is, this seems to me to be a sneaky money making venture at best and a rip off at worst. Still it might just be me!

1.0 out of 5 stars not impressed 26 Dec 2012

KINDLE fire is advertised as having a camera but then you have to buy an app to be able to use it. On top of that the camera only works if facing you so pretty useless unless you want endless self portraits or Facetalk type uses. No good as a general purpose camera.

2.0 out of 5 stars there is already a camera in your kindle
Just go into photo's and click on the camera icon. Just takes 10 seconds and a little practice. By all means download a photo edit app then you can have some fun
