The big centrepiece song from one of 2012's best albums. There is little point repeating here the massive impact that Frank Ocean's famous/infamous letter had on tumbir.com where in the notoriously homophobic arena of hip hop he admitted that he was bi-sexual. It appeared to liberate him and his music, plus it drew attention to what may be the most exciting star in black American Music since Prince. His album "Channel Orange' is packed with great songs but the near 10 minute "Pyramids" does stand out. Ocean throws in Tangerine Dream synths, lyrical references to Cheetahs and Cleopatra and a epic John Mayer guitar solo. As this review is being written the equally stunning "Bad Religion" by Ocean wafts with admirable power and emotion through the speakers and doubt creeps in whether this is even better than "Pyramids". The best bet therefore is to buy, borrow or beg for this album and sample the true glory of Frank Ocean.

Serious introductions are bleak,

I probably caught on to this song last from the Chris Brown fiasco. Never the less a special song that could translate to a slow tune. This ambient drum work is of a kind that I sincerely admire for clarity.

The hooks are deep.
