This book combines both a story and lots of puzzles. I bought this book as my son is currently in a dinosaur phase, lots of dinosaur books are quite heavy going, lots of very long words and difficult concepts but this book is fun.
The story itself is fairly basic, two children, Abby and Isaac go on an adventure and have to try and help a baby Maiasaura called Maya find her parents (If you've watched Go Diego Go: Great Dinosaur Rescue DVD you will find this story a little similar, wonder which came out first! We didn't mind this as my son loves Diego too).
There are lots of different things to find, some things like dinosaur teeth and Morgan the Morganacudon you have to find on every page and my son was always very excited when we spotted Morgan. There is also a series of items/creatures etc, one of which is also hidden on each double page, this is harder as you don't know which will be hidden on each page. As well as the things to find, on each page there is a puzzle, sometimes you have to work out the clues, help the children through a maze or find different things.
This isn't a book that can be read quickly, it does take a while for my little boy to find all the things and work out the answers and there are a few bits where he needs help but this makes it a lovely book for us to read together and we always enjoy spotting the items and working out the right answers. My son is four and has to have this book read to him and it's a lovely activity to do together, I imagine an older child could spend ages pouring over this book trying to find everything and I'd definitely recommend it. There are lots of other books in this series, we have just ordered Puzzle Ocean and Puzzle Jungle, hope they're as good as this one.
