The love story of the year - Teen Now

A real page-turner --Mizz

A romance with a difference --Bliss

I adored everything about this book and think it s an amazing debut. It s definitely one of my favourite contemps of 2012 and I already can t wait for Dare You To a companion novel to Pushing the Limits to come out! Highly recommend to fans of hard hitting, edgy, contemporary and to anyone who loves a smouldering, sexy, consuming love story to boot! --Jess Hearts Books Blog

McGarry s debut YA novel Pushing The Limits is an edgy YA romance that doesn t shy of pulling punches.McGarry is definitely a YA author to keep an eye out for; I m very interested to see what she will write next and she certainly can write sexual tension very well. --Choose YA Blog

Pushing the Limits was a sucker punch of a story, so beautifully and tragically told that now over a week since I finished reading I still can't get it out of my head, full of brilliant one liners and descriptive prose it really is going to be a hard book to beat, without a doubt my favourite contemporary of the year so far. --Read and Repeat Blog

Pushing the Limits is an intriguing and addictive YA contemporary that will make your heart melt. Katie McGarry delivers a unique and unforgettable love story.

Echo and Noah are two troubled teens with unthinkable pasts. They are thrown together at the lowest point of their lives; Echo is battling with the memories of the most horrific night of her life and Noah is losing his visiting rights to see his younger brothers, the only family he has left. When Echo and Noah meet, they don't immediately get along. Echo believes that Noah is a girl-using boy in a black jacket with nothing else to do but get high. Noah thinks Echo is a strange, hot girl who doesn't seem to have a social life. But as time goes buy they realise they have more in common than either them could have guessed.

Wow. Just wow. I knew I was going to like this book from reading many gushing and hyped-up fan girling reviews, I just didn't expect to love this much! The plot, the characters, the writing style, the description, the dialogue, damn, I couldn't bare to put it down to go to the toilet. McGarry had me from chapter 1.

I adore the characters. They all have different, yet entertaining, personalities and interesting backgrounds. My favourite character would definitely be Noah. Sorry! I can't help it. He's strong and tough, but under that there lies something vulnerable, the caring side to him. I loved the flirting between Noah and Echo, many scenes made me laugh out loud and look like a crazy hyena. But, there were also plenty of emotional scenes to get your tears flowing.

Pushing the Limits is simply one of those books that you must read before you die. I promise this book does not disappoint YA fans. I can not WAIT to read Dare You To, the companion novel to Pushing the Limits.

I don't read a lot of YA contemporary romance but I am a massive fan of Simone Elkeles' Perfect Chemistry series and so many of my friends recommended Pushing the Limits that I just had to give it a try. I'm so glad I did because it is without a doubt one of my favourite YA reads of the year so far. This is an impressive debut and one that has earned Katie McGarry a place on my auto-buy list of authors - I will be eagerly awaiting the sequel Dare You To when it is released next year.

The story is told from both Echo and Noah's points of view in alternating chapters which is a style that doesn't always work well but was extremely well written in this case. Both characters have distinctive voices so I was never left trying to figure out who the latest narrator was and I really enjoyed getting to know them both so well. Echo was always one of the popular crowd until an incident that left her hospitalised and meant she was off school for a month. Since she returned she has been like a different person, much quieter she is now someone who now keeps herself to herself and does everything she can to avoid attention. She doesn't remember the events of that terrible night but has been left with horrific scarring and now suffers from daily nightmares. Echo has become the source of much gossip and speculation amongst the other students and life has couldn't be more different to what it used to be.

Forced into attending sessions with the new school counsellor the last thing Echo wants to do is talk but she is desperate to unlock the memories of the night her life was changed forever and nobody else seems willing to help her. It is through these sessions that she starts to get to know the school bad boy Noah.

PUSHING THE LIMITS BY KATIE MCGARRY is a book not to be missed!

We have Eco, a girl with a messed past who lives with her controlling dad.
We have Noah, a boy known for doing bad things but has good intensions.

I really love the relationship between Noah and Eco. The story is written in Eco and Noah's POV where they both give us an insight of their lives. The story is full of emotion and love and just pulls at your heart! You start to feel for the charactors. I love the relationship between Noah and Eco, it's really sweet!

This is a SERIOUSLY good book that leaves you wanting more! It also gives you the opotuity to carry on the story in your head, that's what I like to do.

I give this book 5 stars because it is beautifully written and is just an all around amazing book!

4/5 Stars.

Echo Emerson had a normal life. She was the most popular girl in school, had the hottest boyfriend that loved her, a family she loved most in the world, talents and very good grades. So how did she go from popular to loner freak so quickly? All because of an incident with her mother, that no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't remember what happened. And the rest of her family? They are all determined to keep it that way. They said 'therapy' was supposed to help. Well, they couldn't possibly expect Noah. Noah is the dangerous bad boy her family warned her about. No one ever questioned what happened to her arms. Either, they already knew or thought they did and blamed her. But Noah was different. He was the only one who would listen, the only one who understood and the only one who would help her find the truth. Echo knows that the feelings they start to feel for each other are forbidden. But sometimes to find your destiny you need to break ALL the rules.

The beginning of the book was really good, i think mainly because the description of settings was fantastic, and that's rare.

The characters were all realistic, developed and i could easily picture them in my mind. They were all interesting but different at the same time. From the first page we start to know Echo and what she thinks about her family. We get to see what kind of girl our main character is, and i really, really liked that. The thing i loved the most was that we get to see both Echo's and Noah's points of view.

My feelings were all over the place whilst reading the things that Echo as well as Noah experienced in their life's.
